Since the blue light patterns differ between different Ring Doorbell models, you might wonder how to determine which model you have.

You can check your internet connection via the Ring app installed on your smartphone. You should also ensure your connection is working properly.

When a flashing blue light is cycling around, it means your first-gen Ring Doorbell is charging. The blue light will also indicate the doorbell’s charge percentage as the device charges, with a full blue circle appearing when the device is fully charged.

When the speaker on your Ring Doorbell Wired or Ring Peephole Cam is enabled, a solid blue light will flash on the LED indicator.

The Ring wired doorbell and Ring peephole cam devices have different LED indicators. There are six flashing blue light patterns for these models, with some similar indicators to previous models.

A flashing burst of blue light that flashes rapidly indicates that your Ring device has been restored to default factory settings. When the factory reset is successful, the rapid flashes of blue light will be followed by a spinning white light.

If you’re still struggling with a Ring Doorbell incorrectly flashing a blue light, there might be an issue with the device’s wiring, battery, or the LED lights themselves.

If four of the device’s LED lights flash a blue light four times, it means the device has been successfully paired to a network and is finished setting up.

Pure WhiteWheel Lights

Generally, a flashing blue light means your Ring Doorbell is connecting to a network during setup, has been successfully set up, or is currently charging.

Like all Ring Doorbell models, a flashing blue light moving upwards means your device is busy connecting to your selected Wi-Fi network.

Currently, no Ring Doorbell’s LED light or patterns can be customized. Ultimately, all Ring LED settings are pre-determined, which means it’s not possible to change the brightness of the LED lights or change the light patterns for certain states or activities.

Resetting your Ring Doorbell to its factory settings can also help solve issues with a blue light flashing when it’s not supposed to.

Your Ring Doorbell uses circular LED lights to provide information about the state of the device or the action it’s performing.

On Pro and Pro 2 models, you might see only the top half of the circular LED indicator flashing blue. The meaning of this light pattern varies depending on the state of your Ring Doorbell. During set up, the top half flashing blue means an incorrect password was entered. After set up, this light pattern means the device is charging.

An ordinary button press on a Ring Doorbell Wired or Peephole Cam is indicated with a flashing blue light that spins around.

If you notice a flashing blue circle that lights up for repeated one-second intervals, it means your Ring device is booting up. The flashing blue circle will stop once the device has finished booting up. You’ll also see this blue light pattern after updating your Ring Doorbell’s firmware.

Once I’ve explained what flashing blue light patterns mean on every Ring Doorbell model, I will outline the steps to troubleshoot a Ring Doorbell’s flashing blue light. I’ll also discuss whether you can customize your Ring Doorbell’s blue indicator lights!

Once you’ve completed the setup process for your Ring Doorbell, you’ll see four blue flashes from four of the LED lights. These four blue flashes mean the doorbell is finished setting up and is ready to be used.

If the circular LED lights flash blue for one-second intervals, the device is busy booting up after being turned on, restarted, or updated.
