When I first got the StrikeLight, I handled it with extreme caution. Eventually I grew more comfortable as I learned how it worked. However, the next time I picked it up, I gripped a little too firmly while turning on the flashlight. This pressed the stun button on the other side and “stunned” both me and my cat! To clarify, I had it pointed in a safe direction so neither of us felt the shock, we were just both very surprised and startled by the loud noise.

My neighbor seems to have placed a Private Property sign up in their backyard ( walls only go up so high ) and I was wondering do I need a sign as well?

Hey guys, today I’m talking about the StrikeLight, another small, lightweight, and easy to use self-defense tool made by TASER Self-Defense. You may remember my review of the TASER Pulse+ from a couple weeks ago. Like Pulse, TASER also sent a StrikeLight in exchange for an honest review. Here are my findings.

Is it reliable? – At this point I can’t speak to reliability because I haven’t had it long. However, I the StrikeLight is constructed with quality materials. I’ve dropped it to see if it would roll, but I haven’t been very hard on it or gotten it wet. In normal conditions for the average civilian, I would hope that the quality materials lead to reliability.

80 Lumen Flashlight - Lumens are a measure of brightness or the total output of a light source. An 80 lumen light is perfect for use around the house, general outdoor activities, making the path to your car visible, finding keys, etc. While it’s on the low end of the spectrum for blinding an attacker, one thing to remember is that a higher number of lumens mean a shorter battery life.

TASER also offers a payment option where you can pay over-time in 12-month installments. For the StrikeLight, that’s as little as $12.00 a month.

50,000-volt stun capabilities – According to my research, volts determine how deep the shock can penetrate. Anything above 25,000 volts should be able to go through clothing. Many police stun guns have 50,000 volts.

Depending on my destination, I may bring the StrikeLight with me in my purse or leave it in the glove compartment. When I keep it in my coat pocket, it’s partially visible but that doesn’t bother me. It conceals very well in my purse but most of the time I carry it in my hand.

I used to think one downside of the tool is that it doesn’t allow you to protect yourself from a distance. However, now that I’ve heard the sound it makes, I can vouch that the loud noise is a good deterrent! I just recommend practicing until you get the hang of it.

If you’re looking for a less-lethal self-protection tool, I think the StrikeLight is a great option! It’s easy to grab and take with you. Perfect for women on the go who want the extra dose of confidence!

Again, I encourage users to practice operating the StrikeLight. Try turning the flashlight on without pressing the yellow stun button. If you wear gloves, rings, etc. practice with those too.

The setup was simple, just add the batteries provided! There are two separate buttons- a grey one that slides up to turn on the flashlight, and a yellow button to activate the stun feature. The flashlight must be turned on before you can activate the stun gun.

A self-protection tool that can be used as both a flashlight, stun gun, and striking device. To deliver a shock, the device must make contact with the attacker.

Or, get a bigger stick or a bunch of friends. But seriously, this sounds like a fight better avoided. Most are, actually.

While the StrikeLight is a less-lethal self-defense option, it’s clearly not a toy and should be treated with care. Make sure to point it in a safe direction and keep the stun gun away from your body.

I’m a concealed carry permit holder but during the winter, sometimes my coat makes access to my firearm tricky. I’ve been using the StrikeLight as a secondary tool when walking to my car at night, or when I’m going somewhere that I can’t bring my firearm. It’s so quick and easy to grab on my way out the door and it’s especially nice to have, now that it gets dark so early.

Could it go off in your purse? – I think this is unlikely because the flashlight must be turned on in order to activate the stun gun. Even if items in the purse pressed on both buttons, the flashlight button can’t be pressed inward, it’s a slide that must be slid up.

Is it easy to turn on and off wearing gloves? – I was able to use it easily with gloves. It even worked with bulky mittens, but I had to use both hands.
