A laser polarizing beamsplitter cube consists of a pair of high-precision right-angle prisms that are cemented together with a dielectric coating on one of the two diagonal surfaces for splitting a randomly polarized laser beam. Laser polarizing beamsplitter cubes transmit p-polarized light and reflect s-polarized light. We offer a large selection of laser polarizing beamsplitter cubes, optimized for various wavelengths and laser types.

Laser optics can be made of a variety of substrates, including BK7, H-K9L, Sapphire, UV-grade fused silica, IR-grade fused silica, calcium fluoride (CaF2), magnesium fluoride (MgF2), zinc selenide (ZnSe), zinc sulfide (ZnS), gallium arsenide (GaAs), germanium (Ge), and silicon (Si). Dielectric coatings are often used to improve mirror reflectivity for both S and P polarizations. For most laser applications, filter transmission or reflectance over a very narrow band (the laser line width) is key, and both the substrates and coatings must be chosen carefully to improve the optical performance of the laser-based devices. Ultrashort pulse lasers are the exception; they have a large spectral bandwidth and require lenses and filters with broad transmission ranges.

Our laser line non-polarizing plate beamsplitters are designed to split laser beams 50/50 at a 45° angle of incidence. The beamsplitters exhibit almost no absorption, and the transmission/reflection ratio (50/50) is insensitive to the input beam polarization state. The high laser damage thresholds make the beamsplitters suitable for demanding laser applications. We manufacture laser line non-polarizing plate beamsplitters with 12.5 mm and 25 mm diameters, as well as a 50 mm square variant.

Laser optics includes all the optical elements and optical systems used within lasers or for manipulating—or transmitting—laser light. Laser optics components have more stringent requirements on surface quality and coating compared to standard imaging optics.
