Imatest’s specialized Infrared targets support testing in short to medium wavelengths (1.4­8 microns) and long wavelengths (8­15 microns). Imatest’s standard, inkjet­printed test charts work in near­infrared wavelengths up to 1.4 microns. The targets produce adequate contrast to effectively test a range of infrared camera systems.

The Siemens Star is included in the ISO 12233:2014 standard along with the slanted-edge and hyperbolic wedge, all of which are supported by Imatest modules. Slanted-Edge versus Siemens Star contains a detailed comparison of results. The Imatest version of the chart includes registration marks for automatic region detection and slanted edges for convenient MTF comparison. This target will be particularly useful for security and automotive industries where extreme processing is commonplace and RAW sensor data is difficult to obtain.

Use the miniaturized ColorGauge and Rez Checker for close range measurements of color, tone, exposure error, white balance and noise. These charts are of particular interest for medical imaging, especially endoscopes.

Chrome on Glass charts are uni­tone, have 10:1 contrast and do not include a step­chart (meaning that they do not support the calculation of tonal response curves). The star pattern is used strictly for a focusing aid and is not intended as a testing feature (i.e., as a star chart).

Titanium white has higher reflective and refractive index. Zinc and Titanium color highly depends of impurities. Chemically pure Zinc White and Titanium white are both cool white. Zinc white said to be even whiter…

I guess that what I am suggesting is that rather than trying to locate a white paint that displays the “most reflectivity”, you try to utilize a white paint that handles well, mixes well with colors, and dries in an appropriate time, instead. You can create the perceived “brightness” or “reflectivity” of your highlights by placing the appropriate middle values of color around it, making the lightest lights appear light, when, in reality they may not truly be “as bright”.

The Sinusoidal Siemens Star test chart allows you to measure MTF and limiting resolution with a chart that provides angular response and may be less affected by signal processing (especially sharpening) than slanted-edges. Siemens star MTF20 (the spatial frequency where MTF is 20% of its low frequency value) is a good estimate of limiting resolution. Since the Imatest Star module analysis is extremely noise-resistant, measurements are highly repeatable. When placed off-axis, the chart will have segments that cover sagittal and tangential directions in addition to vertical and horizontal directions.

Imatest Image Sensor (IS) combines the features of Master with the ability to directly load images from image sensors and cameras, cutting out several steps in the testing process. These targets are produced with high-precision Light-Valve Technology. Custom reference files are provided with each chart to ensure accurate color measurements. Customers using small field of view systems or testing at close distances will benefit from these small and precise targets.

Color pigments match the X­Rite™ ColorChecker®. The patches are mounted on aircraft grade anodized aluminum and are set below the top surface to help protect from damage.

To me, White Lead Carbonate displays the characteristics that can not only support the handling of the paint, but also the values required to create a very fine oil painting. To me, it is a sacrilege that White Lead Carbonate is becoming more and more difficult by the moment for fine artists to obtain. If the ecologists wish to keep it off the market for house painters, that is fine, but for fine artists who handle it responsibly, it is nonsense to limit its use and availability.

Our dynamic range charts are designed to test tonal response, noise, basic resolution and color. When used with the Stepchart module, a high range of density levels may be tested.

Imatest texture charts measure texture sharpness and come in color and black and white. The “Dead Leaves” chart was the first chart to test a camera’s ability to reproduce texture. Imatest has improved upon this with our “Spilled Coins” chart, which is perfectly scale invariant, producing reliable and consistent test results.

Yes, there are only a few other materials in existence in the world that are more reflective than titanium dioxide. The exterior of the Saturn V rocket was painted with titanium dioxide; this later allowed astronomers to identify it vs an asteroid. Titanium has extremely widespread applications and usage, thank goodness it is non-toxic, we even ingest it all the time in products such as toothpaste.

The LWIR target has a heated aluminum back­plane. Insulated spacers help float the cooler plasma­cut SFRplus aluminum front plane. The target is painted in a powder­coated matte to diffuse specular reflections. Temperature difference between front and back planes produce contrast in the LWIR target.

White Lead Carbonate is a very fine white paint with which to work, and it displays the desirable qualities of both Zinc White, and Titaniium White. Zinc is quite transparent, while Titanium is very opaque. White Lead Carbonate has characteristics that are somewhere between the two, and without the “overpowering opacity” experienced with Titanium White nor the brittleness of Zinc White.

Minolta CL-200A Chroma Meter ​ Required Description: The Chroma Meter CL­200A is a compact, lightweight, handheld instrument for measuring the color and illuminance of light sources (including new LED and EL light sources) and displaying the results in terms of tristimulus values, illuminance, chromaticity, dominant wavelength, excitation purity, correlated color temperature, and difference values from a target.

This new 24-patch Transmissive Color target can be used for evaluating color accuracy using a lightbox, which can be more compact and uniform than a reflective lighting system.

It turns out that, just like Gigalot mentioned, Titanium White is the best reflective white – it reflects around 97% of light. The problem with Titanium White is that it’s just too good at being white. Zinc and Flake white are more transparent, which is better for letting the colors behind them to show and create more vivid mixes, as they aren’t as overpowering.

These test charts include high resolution slanted­edges that can measure sharpness variations across the entire image sensor. The targets support analysis of other key IR image quality factors, including noise and distortion.

I have always figured that it is best not to be misled by the “reflectivity” characterization alone as the criterion of an appropriate, white oil paint. There are many qualities of a white oil paint that are at least, if not more important to the creation of an attractive oil painting than the reflectivity, or brightness of the white paint used in its creation.

In my opinion, the actual, measured brightness, or reflectivity of a white paint is not nearly as important as its handling characteristics. The appearance of the light areas of a painted subject (the highlights) are much more affected by the surrounding values within the painting, than the actual brightness of the white paint used in its creation. In other words, nearly any white paint can be used in mixes to create appropriate appearing light colors, and highlights, without it being specifically the brightest of white paints. But, it can be made to appear brighter by the careful handling of the color values surrounding it. Generally, the brightest area on an image will be accepted by the eye as being “white” regardless of its actual, measured “brightness” or “reflectivity”, and how “bright” it appears is dependent upon those color values surrounding it.

Manufacturing customers can capitalize on the wide array of tests available, including: focus, blemish, electrical, and optical image stabilization (OIS) tests.

Image Engineering

Fully automated machines enable module assembly with UV curable adhesive, pass/fail module sorting for quality control, and also interface with machine part-delivery systems for complete automation. Extensive customization options are available.

Standard sizes include Small – 117.5 x 93.345 mm (4.625 x 3.675”) and Medium – 177.8 x 235 mm (7 x 9.25”). Custom sizing as small as .35 x .5″ is available. Imatest recommends using this target with the ITI LED Lightbox.

The MWIR target is produced using a silk­screened SFRplus print on an aluminum sheet. Contrast is produced due to the difference in emissivity between the different paints.

It is reflective that I asked about. I appreciate your question, as I forgot one of my titanium whites includes zinc, the other, an original formula Grumbacher pre tested cntains lead. So the best reflectivite white is just only titanium. Good to know. Ella

DLL allows for parallel processing and includes a Visual Studio C++ project that demonstrates how to perform parallel processing. IT-P includes the EXE interface, however, it does not support parallel processing. Although IT-P operates independently of Imatest Master, it is strongly recommended that IT-P users have at least one Master installation on site to support the process of defining execution parameters and default settings.

If you really want a greatly reflective white, I would recommend checking out the Pebeo Fragonard Titanium White. It seems to be brighter than most other Titanium Whites, provided you can live with all the crummy oils in which it is ground. Safflower, Sunflower, and Poppyseed Oila are all very slow-drying oils, that create weak paint films, compared to Linseed Oil. The stuff does dry rather fast, so it must also have some drier as an ingredient.

White Lead also is a relatively fast drier, as well as being a very desirable paint in its application. It mixes well with other colors, without overpowering them with its opacity.

The slanted edges can be used to reliably measure SFR or MTF out to 3000 dots­per­inch or 60 cy/mm with the appropriate software. Five, line visual hyperbolic wedges are also included to aid in the visual assessment of limiting resolution to 850 dpi.
