Il fattore di crop è un numero che rappresenta la differenza di dimensioni tra un sensore e l'altro e va moltiplicato per la lunghezza focale. In questo modo è possibile ricavare il vero valore di lunghezza focale che si può ottenere con un determinato obiettivo.

Ad esempio Canon usa le sigle EF ed EF-S per distinguere i Full Frame dagli APS-C. Sony invece utilizza le sigle FE (Full Frame) ed E (APS-C). In alcuni casi, nella descrizione dell'obiettivo viene esplicitamente dichiarata questa informazione.

Un'ottica fissa di ottima qualità, luminosa, nitida e a buon prezzo. Utilizzata su Full Frame permette riprese abbastanza ampie mentre su APS-C diventa un'ottica standard, adatta anche ai ritratti.

Il teleobiettivo perfetto per Lumix. Ha una focale equivalente ad un 70-200mm e pertanto è perfetto per riprese di soggetti distanti o per dettagli e primissimi piani.

In genere, se si utilizzano soltanto ottiche a focale fissa, è bene avere un corredo che copra diverse lunghezze focali. Per esempio, il classico trittico prevede di avere almeno:

Altra ottica per APS-C, dotata di una buona escursione focale, leggermente minore rispetto alla 18-105mm ma di maggior qualità. Da evitare su Full Frame.

Se invece dovessimo girare uno spot più ragionato su un set controllato, e con il tempo dalla nostra parte, ecco che l'utilizzo di un corredo di ottiche fisse ci permetterebbe di ottenere una maggior qualità.

Questi due obiettivi Canon differiscono per apertura massima consentita ma visto il prezzo consigliamo di puntare decisamente sul 50mm f/1.4. Se invece volete spendere davvero poco, puntate sul 50mm f/1.8, ottica perfetta per iniziare a sperimentare con le focali fisse.

Ma non tutti gli obiettivi permettono di aprire allo stesso modo il diaframma e quelli che concedono aperture maggiori sono anche molto costosi.

Spesso gli obiettivi originali costano un occhio della testa. Per questo alcuni produttori hanno iniziato a realizzare ottiche compatibili per Canon, Sony ed altri brand.

Un obiettivo zoom è sicuramente più comodo perché permette di ampliare l'inquadratura o di avvicinarsi al soggetto, rimanendo fermi. Al contrario, per stringere o allargare l'inquadratura con un obiettivo fisso è necessario spostarsi fisicamente.

Ecco due ottimi obiettivi fissi, consigliati per macchine micro 4/3 e con ottime aperture di diaframma. Equivalgono ad una focale standard, entrambe ottime per ritratti.

In molti casi come ad esempio: video di eventi, video istituzionali e commerciali, videoclip a basso budget... un obiettivo zoom tuttofare risulta molto più comodo.

Diciamo infine che la lunghezza focale non è un valore assoluto e dipende in modo imprescindibile dalla macchina da presa che state utilizzando. In particolare dal suo sensore.

In altre parole: con una lunghezza focale bassa (ad esempio 18mm) potrò riprendere un paesaggio in tutta la sua ampiezza mentre per riprendere un soggetto lontano dovrò usare una focale alta (ad esempio 200mm).

Ad esempio un'escursione focale che vada da 24 a 70mm è in genere buona. Una che vada da 18 a 300mm è esagerata: l'obiettivo è probabilmente di scarsa qualità

Questi obiettivi non sono dotati di alcun automatismo, come dovrebbe essere nel campo del video, e vanno utilizzati in modo completamente manuale. La ghiera sporgente permette di collegare un follow-focus, accessorio che facilita la messa a fuoco nelle riprese video e la maggior grandezza del barilotto (corpo) garantisce molta più precisione nella messa a fuoco. Luminosità e nitidezza sono ovviamente ottime.

Queste sigle all'apparenza molto complesse, nascondono in realtà un unico dato che ci interessa veramente: la dimensione. Il sensore Full Frame è più grande del sensore APS-C che è più grande del sensore Micro 4/3.

Con questo obiettivo non potete sbagliare. La sua focale è equivalente al classico 24-70mm e la sua apertura massima di f/2.8 vi garantisce una buona qualità anche in situazioni di luce difficili.

Si tratta di obiettivi pensati per gli scatti fotografici ma che hanno tutte le caratteristiche necessarie per essere utilizzati anche come obiettivi per fare video.

Nel caso in cui utilizziate una di queste macchine, dovreste acquistare obiettivi Sony E-mount (attacco E). Sony produce obiettivi E-mount sia per Full Frame che per APS-C. Ecco alcuni obiettivi consigliati per le riprese video.

Ogni fotocamera è dotata di un sensore elettronico che si occupa di trasformare la luce in immagine. Esistono tantissime tipologie di sensore ma le 3 principali tipologie che troverete se fate video sono:

La più classica escursione focale tuttofare per un obiettivo solido e preciso. Il Canon 24-70mm è probabilmente uno degli obiettivi più venduti di sempre e una sicurezza per tutti gli utilizzi.

Il diaframma è un sistema di lamelle metalliche che si trovano all'estremità di ogni obiettivo e il suo compito è quello di filtrare la luce in entrata.

Un fantastico corredo di tre ottiche fisse super luminose. Samyang produce esclusivamente obiettivi a focale fissa per utilizzo video e fotografico e propone dei prezzi davvero bassi per ottiche così luminose.

Ottima ottica tuttofare per mirrorless Sony APS-C. Riuscirete a realizzare inquadrature ampie ma anche a riprendere persone e realizzare campi medi. Qualità molto buona.

Nella maggior parte dei casi, gli obiettivi utilizzati dai videomaker sono gli stessi obiettivi utilizzati anche dai fotografi. Ma esistono anche obiettivi per video con specifiche caratteristiche che approfondiremo nei prossimi paragrafi.

Il 17-28mm permette inquadrature più ampie ed è più adatto alle macchine APS-C mentre il 28-75 è un ottimo tuttofare, specialmente per le Full Frame. Ma la cosa strabiliante è il costo, davvero basso per obiettivi così luminosi che garantiscono aperture fino a f/2.8.

Una grande apertura di diaframma coincide di solito con un'ottima qualità di costruzione dell'obiettivo stesso e ne fa inevitabilmente lievitare il costo.

Ogni obiettivo è realizzato per essere utilizzato con un tipo di sensore specifico. Esistono obiettivi realizzati per macchine FF, obiettivi realizzati per macchine APS-C e così via.

Il 50mm è la focale migliore per i ritratti, la più classica e la più vicina alla vista umana. Si tratta di un buon punto di partenza per chi inizia.

In questo modo il videomaker può girare la maggior parte delle sue clip con lo stesso obiettivo, senza doversi mai preoccupare di sostituirlo. Infatti il tuttofare permette di passare da un'inquadratura molto larga, ad esempio di un parco, ad un'inquadratura stretta, ad esempio di una bicicletta, grazie allo zoom.

Sony produce alcune delle fotocamere mirrorless più utilizzate dai videomaker attualmente. In particolare parliamo della serie alpha, abbreviata con α.

Consigliamo invece di evitare gli obiettivi che presentano intervalli di aperture come ad esempio: f3.5/5.6. In questi casi si dice che “l'apertura non è costante su tutta la focale" e questa non è una buona caratteristica per un obiettivo.

L'apertura di diaframma si indica con valori come: f4, f2.8, f2 e così via. Possiamo dire che f4 sia un'apertura minima accettabile, mentre aperture molto buone sono ad esempio: f2.8 - f2 - f1.8 e inferiori. Insomma, più il numero è basso e meglio è.

La differenza di dimensioni incide ovviamente sulla qualità finale delle riprese ma quello che ci interessa veramente in questo momento è capire come incide sull'obiettivo che montiamo.

La tipologia dell'obiettivo: o meglio il tipo di sensore per il quale è stato costruito (full frame, APS-C, micro 4/3...)

Ovviamente quello che si guadagna in qualità lo si perde in comodità. È chiaro come sia molto più comodo utilizzare un unico obiettivo che copra un'escursione focale ampia, come ad esempio il 24-105mm, anziché utilizzarne 3 o 4 diversi.

Il 17-55 è un buon obiettivo zoom dall'apertura di diaframma ottima che garantisce quindi grande nitidezza. Probabilmente la migliore ottica zoom Canon in quanto a compromesso costo / qualità. Si tratta di un'ottica APS-C quindi non utilizzabile su macchine Full Frame.

In particolare vi possiamo consigliare le ottiche Tamron e Samyang. Si tratta di due produttori che realizzano obiettivi di pregevole fattura. Quando vi apprestate a sceglierle, ricordatevi di controllare e selezionare il tipo di attacco corrispondente alla vostra macchina (ad esempio Sony E o Canon EF). Vediamone alcune.

Vediamo ora alcuni obiettivi Canon di ottima fattura, utilizzabili su Reflex Canon o, grazie agli appositi adattatori, anche su altre macchine.

Se volete puntare un po' più in alto, vi consigliamo di acquistare un set di obiettivi Samyang video. Si tratta di obiettivi a focale fissa, costruiti esclusivamente per i videomaker.

In base all'apertura di diaframma scelta, l'immagine ottenuta subirà dei cambiamenti. In particolare, con diaframmi molto aperti si ridurrà la profondità di campo ed otterrete di conseguenza l'effetto di isolare un soggetto, sfocando completamente lo sfondo. Un effetto molto cinematografico.

Sono di qualità maggiore. Infatti il sistema di lenti interno ha una costruzione più semplice rispetto ad un obiettivo zoom, di conseguenza si ha meno dispersione di luce e più qualità

Esistono obiettivi zoom ed obiettivi a focale fissa. La differenza sta proprio nel fatto che gli obiettivi zoom permettono di passare da una focale minima ad una massima mentre i fissi, anche detti prime lens, hanno una lunghezza focale non modificabile.

Il consiglio numero uno quindi è quello di assicurarsi del tipo di sensore montato sulla vostra macchina e successivamente di cercare obiettivi adatti a quel tipo di sensore.

Se possedete una mirrorless Sony APS-C, questa è la scelta tuttofare migliore che potrete fare. L'escursione che va da 18 a 105mm vi permette di coprire praticamente qualsiasi inquadratura. Ottica invece da evitare se possedete una macchina full frame.

Si tratta di un ottimo obiettivo ad un prezzo tutto sommato affrontabile. Un'ottima ottica tuttofare con una buona apertura di diaframma che vi permette di fare quasi tutto.

Quindi se la lunghezza focale è bassa si parla di focale grandangolare, se invece è alta si parla di teleobiettivo. Una lunghezza focale di 50mm definisce un valore normale, abbastanza simile alla visione umana.
