“She pulled it from her pocket and Tasered the suspect,” Buchholz said. “After she Tasered him twice they struggled and she screamed loudly for help and the suspect ran away.”

It is illegal in Michigan for anyone outside of law enforcement to carry or use a Taser without a concealed weapon license, but police said no charge was sought against the girl in the case.

“He told her, ‘Don’t scream, I only want sex,'” Buchholz said. “He then guided the victim down the sidewalk to near the dugout of the baseball field and told her to get down on her knees.”

She ran across the street to a house for help and a person there called police.Hazel Park officers called a K-9 unit to the scene, but were unable to establish a track for a suspect, police said.Detectives looked at video surveillance from schools and other businesses in the area.Police said they were able to determine the suspect was at a gas station on Nine Mile Road before the attack.A day later they found the suspect, who matched the description of the teen’s assailant, police said.The suspect lives with a relative at an apartment complex in the area and he was arrested.Police said the suspect confessed to the crime when he was interviewed by detectives.“It sounds like he saw her walking, got the idea in his head and acted on it,” Buchholz said.It is illegal in Michigan for anyone outside of law enforcement to carry or use a Taser without a concealed weapon license, but police said no charge was sought against the girl in the case.
