Cytotoxic waste has special handling, packaging and disposal requirements. It must be packaged inside a puncture resistant, leak proof colour-coded, purple container and segregated from other medical waste.

The waste stream is taken to our thermal destruction facility and processed through an automatically controlled waste feed that ensures efficient combustion and complete destruction.  The waste is exposed to a chamber temperature of 1000 degrees Celsius, and the emissions are controlled to surpass European Standards, which exceed current Australian standards.

Veolia’s highly trained and experienced team can safely collect, transport and destroy cytotoxic waste at our thermal destruction facility.   We provide a range of compliant cytotoxic containers and can tailor a collection schedule to suit your facility’s needs. Your waste will be collected by our dedicated hazardous waste fleet and transported to a specialised waste facility, where we destroy the waste according to legislative requirements.

It is very hazardous as it is capable of impairing, injuring or killing cells and can cause toxic or allergic reactions.
