He said the Sheriff's Office's stun gun cameras begin recording when the weapons are powered on, and dashboard cameras are automatically activated with patrol cars' lights or sirens.

Larpenter said storage constitutes most of the expenses for body cameras. Subscription plans for departments that upload videos to Taser's Evidence website range from $15 to $55 a month per user, but the cost could rise depending on how much video data is stored.
