After meeting the prerequisites for the course, candidates can begin learning the Fundamentals of Instruction component. The candidate must complete an 8-hour online training before moving on to the classroom portion of this component. Students will have the opportunity to put the principles they learned into practice under the careful guidance of an Instructor Trainer. After completion of this module, candidates may proceed to a 2-day discipline-specific classroom component where they will learn how to teach Professional Responder courses. Following the teaching experience component, which allows candidates to teach in a dynamic classroom before their certification can be processed.

The HUB is a requirement for taking the Instructor Recertification Course, which can be done either online or in person. Upon completion of the course prerequisites, candidates may start the Fundamentals of Instruction. In this section, the candidate must spend 8 hours studying online material which will be followed by a 14.5 hour (2 days) in-class component. After the Fundamentals of Instruction component is completed, they may proceed to the Discipline-Specific classroom component, which takes another 2 days of in-person training. Participants will be given the opportunity to practice their teaching skills by leading peer teaching sessions, which is the last stage in earning this credential.

The headquarters of Coast2Coast First Aid and Aquatics Inc. is located in Toronto. Coast2Coast has over 20 locations across Ontario offering a wide range of First Aid and CPR/AED programs.

If candidates fall into the 1st category, they will already have some knowledge of First Aid from other organizations and can apply what they know to the Red Cross program. However, they will still have to finish a Fundamentals of Instruction component and pass prerequisites, after which their skills will be evaluated.  Candidates will then engage in a short, in-class teaching experience.

After you’ve completed the program, the candidate will be issued an e-certificate that is valid for three years. According to the candidate’s needs, pathway components and courses that they wish to teach will be verified. This will include the following: BLS Instructor, First Responder Instructor, and Emergency Medical Responder Instructor certifications.

The student will receive a certificate that is valid for up to three years after successfully completing this course. To obtain a Red Cross First Aid Program Certified Instructor Certification, you must first have a current Red Cross First Aid Program Instructor Certification as well as prior experience teaching three Canadian Red Cross First Aid Programs during the certificate’s validity period.
