Another common interferometer is the Mach-Zehnder, which is useful for testing optics in transmission in single pass. If the optic under test has large deviations, this less sensitive test could be better for keeping the wavefront slope within the dynamic range of the interferometer.

Achromatic doublet lenses are excellent focusing components to reduce the chromatic aberrations from broadband light sources used in many analytical and medical devices. Unlike singlet lenses, achromatic lenses have constant focal length independent of aperture and operating wavelength and have superior off-axis performance. Our achromatic lenses are computer designed to effectively minimize spherical aberration and coma when operating at infinite conjugate ratio, yielding smaller focused spot sizes. We offer precision achromatic lenses with multi-layer antireflection coatings for superior transmission efficiency in the broadband visible, UV-visible and NIR-IR wavelength ranges. For applications requiring even better color correction in the visible wavelength range, consider our achromatic aspherical lenses. And for benchtop prototyping or a lower cost solution in the visible wavelength range, we offer achromatic lenses with a single-layer MgF2 antireflection coating.

Transmission tests are useful for measuring index homogeneity or thickness variation. In addition, they can be used to measure the power of a lens with low power. The Mach-Zehnder can also be used for testing surfaces in reflection by replacing one of the fold mirrors with the test part. The sensitivity is less since the beam is incident at 45° instead of normal incidence.
