Rust can be a tough survival game, and here are helpful tips to tackle its world solo while contending against groups of other players.

It's also important to note that you'll need some kind of power source to get your Computer Station up and running. Make sure you have a Wind Turbine, Small Generator, or Solar Panel nearby.

SS USB cables transfer data at a max rate of 5 Gbps (5,120 Mbps), though 3,200 Mbps is a more realistic and common rate for average use. Conversely, USB 2.0 transfers at 480 Mbps, and USB 1.1 has a maximum transfer of 12 Mbps.

Once you've gathered the necessary materials, you can move around your base and mount the CCTV cameras where you please. You're free to add as many as you'd like.

USB (Universal Serial Bus) 3.0 was released in 2008 with approximately 10x the speed of USB 2.0 and was coined “SuperSpeed”. Because USB 3.0 utilized some of the same connector types as USB 2.0, along with a few new connectors, it was suggested that USB 3.0 cables be made blue to differentiate them. You can also see a compatibility chart of connector types here.

USB 3.0 cables utilize 9 connector wires, as opposed to 4 connector wires in USB 2.0. This allows for higher transfer speeds and more voltage. For charging devices, USB 2.0 is capable of up to 500 mA, whereas USB 3.0 is capable of up to 900 mA. The 5 additional wires also enable USB 3.0 cables to have two-way communication simultaneously. Unique connector types for USB 3.0, which are most often blue in color, are Type B and Micro B.

Rust is best when played with friends, which is why so many players desire to know how to run their own private servers. Here's how.

While the codes are useful, they're worthless if you don't have a Computer Station to use them with. There are two ways to snag a Computer Station: by buying one or crafting it. Purchasing one from the Outpost will set you back 300 scrap (it only costs 75 scrap if you can find the appropriate parts).

The Computer Station isn't just for checking the cameras mounted around each Monument; it's also capable of controlling your own private CCTV system. To do this, you'll first need to locate your own cameras.

By using a Computer Station and entering some fancy codes on a CCTV monitor, you'll be able to peer through a video camera and assess a potential looting spot before stepping foot outside your protective bubble.

The CCTV Codes won't let you spy on the base of another player (and you can't hack into their security system) but having any form of intel over your opponents is massive in Rust, especially when it comes to positioning on the map.

Unfortunately, you won't be able to craft these and the only way to snag them is to find them in Elite Military Loot Crates.

Features include: • SS data transfer rates up to 5 Gbps (system dependent) • Compliance with the USB 3.0 interface standard • Nickel-plated plugs for enhanced signal transfer

Nearly all modern electrical devices utilize a standard that is compatible with USB 3.0 cables. Some devices utilize USB 3.0 connectors Type B and Micro B, such as printers, scanners, storage drives, GPS units, and cell phones.

The Targeting Computer can't be crafted, you'll have to find one yourself by looting helicopter crash sites, lootboxes, and airdrops.

The difficult thing about Rust is that enemies could be anywhere and leaving your base is always a gamble. Since you'll be collecting supplies often to build better equipment, it's important to know what areas are safe and which are overrun with other players. Thankfully, you can tip the odds in your favor by getting "eyes on" a particular location.

You can only use CCTV Codes if you have access to a Computer Station, but once you do, you'll have visual access to a variety of Monuments spread across the map.

The condition of your server and when the last wipe was will help determine if you should save up scrap to buy one or go on the arduous task of making your own. If you've already been playing for a while, you likely have some (if not all) of the parts you'll need.

USB Type A connectors have been the universal standard since USB 1.1, with connections built into wall sockets, computers, vehicles, televisions, interfaces, and audio technology of all kinds. USB 3.0 Type B can be found on larger devices such as printers and scanners. Some storage devices and drives use them, as well.

Before you can use your Computer Station and enter codes (or set up your own CCTV system), you'll need to create an ID. To do so, right-click on the Computer Station and select the Set ID command.

This means venturing out into the wilderness where there's a threat of attack from other players, so be sure to tread with caution.

Make sure to keep a record of whatever you create, as the password will be needed for anyone to access the station (and also helps keep unwanted players from looking at your cameras).

Thanks to a 2017 update, High-Quality Metal is nearly impossible to find inside rocks via normal mining, and the easiest way to collect it is by using a Mining Quarry.

Cameras are stationary, so be sure to point them toward the area you wish to see. They'll also need to be connected to a power source with at least five volts of energy.

The SuperSpeed (SS) USB 3.0 Cable is designed to connect a device with a USB Type A interface to one with a USB 3.0 Type B interface. It is ideal for connecting an audio interface, external hard drive, or other computer peripherals to a PC via a SS USB Port.

Anyone who is unfamiliar with Rust and how it operates will almost immediately find themselves incapacitated, or at least at the wrong end of a loaded gun. It's perhaps one of the most beginner-un-friendly indie games on the market and even veteran players can sometimes struggle to get a leg up on their competition after each wipe.
