While Fujifilm users do have to fork out a considerable chunk of cash for this macro prime lens, it is a wonderful piece of imaging technology. Image quality is, of course, gorgeous, just as we’ve come to expect from X-mount Fujinon lenses. The maximum aperture of f/2.8 gives you plenty of depth-of-field flexibility, and the equivalent focal length of 122mm means it also functions as an excellent portrait lens. The minimum focusing distance of 25cm lets you get nice and close to your subjects for true macro work, and the extensive weatherproofing around the chassis means you can fearlessly take the lens out into wet and otherwise inclement conditions. Those wanting a shorter focal length, for closer working distances, then also consider the Fujifilm XF60mm f/2.4 R Macro.

Pure White tends to be my other go-to paint color for trim. It is a very popular white paint color by Sherwin Williams.

Macro lenses are built with a specific optical construction that enables the dramatic magnification of small subjects. They're also designed to focus at close distances, helping to throw out the background, and provide a flat plane of focus that reduces softness in the corners. Sigma already makes an excellent 105mm f/2.8 macro lens for DSLRs, but this version has been completely redesigned for mirrorless cameras. In this instance, we will compare High Reflective White to a few other popular white paint colors that are commonly used on trim.

High Reflective White has an LRV (Light Reflectance Value) of 93. The LRV scale goes from 0, which is completely black, to 100, which is completely white.

One way to fix this is to ask your Sherwin Williams guy or gal to add more white to High Reflective White. Adding more white to the can will give High Reflective White more hide, making it a much more usable paint color.

Image quality is great across the frame, although wide open, the corners are average until you get to f/4 before they sharpen up, but image quality in the centre is pin sharp at any aperture. At close focusing distances, the lens exhibits some focus hunting, although once locked, the focus is silent and highly accurate.

Yes! As you'll see from this list, most macro lenses tend to be telephoto primes around the 80-110mm mark, and this is right in the sweet spot for portrait photography. A narrow focal length like this allows you to flatter a subject's facial features, and makes it easier to throw out the background. Also, many modern macro lenses are stabilised, which is handy when shooting handheld – something you're honestly more likely to do when capturing portraits than macro images, which are often tripod-bound.

Planning to use High Reflective White on trim and Westhighland White on walls hope these two are a good choice. Want to show white on white. I think it will go well with oak wood floors.

Cool paint colors have blue, green or purple undertones. In a white paint color, these undertones tend to give a chilly look.

The best and most popular place to use High Reflective White is on trim. It is great on baseboards, crown molding and built-ins.

High Reflective White is among my top three best trim paint colors. It is bright, clean, and super white, making it a perfect accent to almost any coordinating colors.

Overall, the difference between High Reflective White and Extra White is the temperature. Extra White is much cooler than High Reflective White. This makes it a good shade to use with other cool paint colors, but not a great shade to use with any warm paint colors.

Along with having a very high LRV, High Reflective White also has very little in the way of undertones. In fact, it is virtually undertone free.

The Micro Four Thirds system lends itself well to macro photography. The cropped sensor delivers an effective focal-length magnification of 2x, meaning you get more telephoto reach from lenses that are both cheaper and lighter than their full-frame equivalents. This also has the advantage of increasing a macro lens' magnification factor. So, the OM System M.Zuiko 90mm f/3.5 Macro, which has a magnification ratio of 2:1, in practice delivers a 180mm field of view with a whopping 4:1 magnification ratio. Tiny subjects get blown up to four times' their actual size on the sensor, revealing an enormous level of detail. As you might imagine, this lens takes a bit of practice to wield, and its extra-tight focal length may not be suitable for every macro application. However, it's a spectacular lens that makes the most of the inherent advantages of MFT.

High Reflective White is a great white paint color. It is very versatile and goes with a lot of of shades. This is part of what makes it such a perfect trim paint color.

This statement is definitely one that is relative though. Super White will look super white in almost any setting. You would never look at it and think it had any color in it, unless you compared it to High Reflective White.

Renovating my new home... started with extra white on the ceilings, but changed my mind during the process. Read your blog... Now using high reflective white instead and instantly noticed a difference. The ceilings look cleaner, crisp and just so beautiful! Extra white looked gray and made my wall colors look dull. This is my new favorite ceiling, trim, and cabinet paint. Never again extra white which I have always used in the past. Need to find this in oil now to paint my trim and cabinets. Can't wait! Heard it is hard to find though.

While lots of lenses with decent close-up capabilities are referred to as macro lenses, there is actually stricter criteria to qualify as one. For a lens to be considered a "true" macro lens, it needs to have at least a 1:1 reproduction ratio, meaning that the subject on the sensor plane is the same as or greater than its size in real life. This is the key to getting those spectacular, frame-filling images of minuscule subjects.

In some ways, Chantilly Lace might be the better trim color between the two for a big reason mentioned earlier. High Reflective White has very low hide. Chantilly Lace should do a better job at covering previous paint colors.

Hi there! This will work. High Reflective White is just very white, so it goes with about any color. Westhighland White will look like a creamy white next to it. Good luck!

For example, you can paint the walls High Reflective White in an eggshell or satin, and then paint the trim High Reflective White in a semi-gloss.

This beautiful lens ain't cheap, but for Fujifilm X users it's also an absolutely sublime piece of kit. Image quality is beautiful, and the lens itself is weatherproofed.

The key thing that marks out macro lenses is that they are designed to focus at extremely short distances. This means that not only are they designed with a short minimum focus distance, but they also perform well when used at this distance, with a flat plane of focus and little to no fall-off in the corners. As such, macro lenses tend to be very sharp in general (as they need to be for detail-focused photography).

An all-around stunning lens with pro-grade construction and handling, the Nikon Z 105mm offers a level of precise control for super-fine adjustments to focusing.

If you tend to use warm, beige tones in your home, you may want to consider going with a white with a little more warmth in it. High Reflective White will work, but it may look just a bit too stark next to the beige tones around it.

It is also a great choice for pairing with the cool whites that tend to be in kitchens, such as marble and quartz, especially if you want to coordinate with them but not introduce a cool white paint color that could look a little blue in some lights (looking at you, Extra White).

All those little undertones in other white paint colors help them cover better on your walls. Put another way, High Reflective White doesn’t have very much hide to it.

High Reflective White is a very clean white paint color by Sherwin WIlliams. It is a popular paint choice for trim and other accents in a home.

Last, High Reflective White can be used on the trim of a home’s exterior, though a white of this brightness might be a bit of overkill. Because the outside has so much natural light, I tend to recommend going with a white that has just a bit lower of an LRV, such as Pure White or Snowbound.

Chantilly Lace is one of Benjamin Moore’s purest white paint colors. It has an LRV of 90 and is extremely similar to High Reflective White.

Simply place them on your walls next to your trim, furnishings or fixed elements, and easily see which paint color works best in your space and with your lighting.

High Reflective White is such a pure white paint color that it can go with almost any other paint color. Again, this is why it is such a good trim shade

Nikon makes a cut-price 40mm DX format macro lens but this is a far superior optic for close-up shooting. Its minimum focus distance is more generous and the inner barrel doesn’t extend at shorter focus distances. The net results is that the working distance from the front of the lens to the target in full 1.0x macro shooting is 14.5cm compared with the 40mm lens’s paltry 3.5cm. Further advantages include VR (Vibration Reduction) and an ED (Extra-low Dispersion) element, both of which are lacking in the 40mm lens. Sharpness is uninspiring at f/3.5 but much better at medium to narrow apertures, more commonly used in macro photography. Ultimately, the Tamron 90mm and Sigma 105mm lenses still have the edge for shooting with DX as well as FX format cameras.

Additionally, High Reflective White can be a good color to use on cabinets, especially if you are using cooler toned fixed elements like marble countertops or bright white subway tile.

Extra White is a popular Sherwin Williams white paint color. It is most frequently used on trim, but it can also be used on walls, cabinets, exteriors, etc.

As you can see, an LRV is pretty high on this scale. Truth be told, white paint colors do not even come much higher than this. The only paint color that I know of that has a higher LRV than High Reflective White is Behr’s Ultra Pure White – and its LRV is 94.

There are some other important requirements for macro lenses. You're going to be getting very close to your subject, so a short focusing distance is a must, and they also tend to be longer in focal length (the sweet spot is generally agreed to be around 90-105mm, though there are variations in both directions), as this again makes it easier to fill the frame with one subject. For this reason, macro lenses are often useful in other contexts as well – their sharpness makes them good take-everywhere primes, their longer focal lengths make them handy for portraiture, and their ability to render detail makes them fantastic for food photography.

Oh Pat, this must be so frustrating! But unfortunately, I don't think that adding bright white to white would give you the exact formula of High Reflective White. The paint shortage is giving many people headaches. So sorry!

Despite the absence of optical image stabilization, Panasonic’s reliable B.I.S. compensates well, though there's curiosity about whether combined stabilization could offer even greater stability.
