This is great. I’m a carpet cleaner and it’s often hard to spot tiny imperfections in the carpets I clean. A magnifying glass helps so much!

Go to an optometrists office. I bought one for my mother who has macular degeneration. It is ery hood and has a light on it. Well worth the money.

5X and 6X Lenses are the most popular choices for an average user as it offers higher magnification without sacrificing the field of vision (diameter of the lens). On the other hand, a 10X magnifier will reduce the field of vision significantly, but it will give you a closer look at tiny rocks, crystals, minerals, microfossils, etc.

I have macular degeneration. Rt. eye is wet, Lt. eye dry. I am looking for a magnifying glass that lets me read letters or documents too small for me to read as it is.

When one thinks of a magnifying glass, they tend to think of the big Sherlock Holmes type lens. However, in actual use, you want a lightweight, and powerful magnifier that has impeccable optics and is simple to use. Utilizing the best magnifier for demanding jobs like inspecting diamonds and gemstones is essential to their occupation, while hobbyists who collect rocks and minerals just need to buy a decent magnifier that they can afford to lose.

Hi, notice on Amazon there are a plethora of magnifying glasses to choose from and very little information about quality of lenses as you point out above. But instead of beauty related products, I am interested in magnifying maps with tiny font or doing close electronics work in a hands-free mode. Do I want a headset or a floor mounted magnifying lens? The search is about! Chas

Hold the lens up next to your eyes while bringing the object close to it - about a few centimeters from your face. The idea is to focus your attention through the magnifying lens, the same way you look through eyeglasses. If you normally wear glasses, you will need to keep them on. A magnifier won't correct for astigmatism as well.

Beware of buying the magnifying jewelers loupe 45x on eBay and the 100x on amazon the 45x is 6.95 and the 100x is over 20 dollars on amazon I ordered both both , and both are the 45x with identical numbers, this needs to be reported.. one co. is mega mail online, another is Pandacub 1990, just wanted to let people know about the scam, Thanks.

I wear prescription glasses and need magnifying glass with headset to practice calligraphy. Do I wear them over my eyeglasses or without?

I am trying to find a magnifying glass for a friend of mine that has muscular degeneration and is having a hard time reading the newspaper. She probably needs 5X strength. Where can she go to see one or buy one? The zip code is 44512, Youngstown Ohio.

A circular polarizing filter absorbs rays of sunlight, by rotating the ring you control the effect. A Circular Polarizer is used on cameras with beam splitting metering systems commonly found on auto focus SLR’s (for most 35mm auto-focus cameras see your camera manual). The Standard Circular Polarizer filter blocks 1.5 stops of light and is one of those must have filters.

Why is it that magnifying glasses aren’t labeled accurately and that the X doesn’t truly mean twice as big. If I view a quarter which is .75 inch and then view it from the same distance using a 10X lens I’d expect it to be 10 times the size 7.5 inches but it’s closer to 2 inches. What the hell ?

The X (times) factor of a magnifying glass refers to how much it magnifies. An average magnifying glass makes objects look 2 or 3 times bigger, which means it magnifies 2X or 3X. Geologists often like to have 5X to 10X magnification; however, anything higher than 10X is difficult to use in the field because the lenses are too small.

The low light polarizer has less of a polarizing effect than a standard polarizer filter, allowing for it to be used in indoor and darker situations when available light is at a premium. Low light polarizer filters require 1 stop of exposure compensation, instead of the standard 1.5 stop compensation.

Given the same X (times) factor, a larger lens is always better. There are tons of cheap inferior magnifying glasses out there claiming 20X, 30X, and even 45X magnifications, yet they sell for less than $10. These are false claims as any magnifier over 20X magnification will have such a small field of vision that they are no longer considered magnifiers, but rather loupes. Higher quality lenses with high magnifications are also more difficult to produce, consequently they tend to be more expensive.

I truly want to see the item at a minimum of five times its actual size, more probably 10 times the actual size because I would not be using a magnifying glass if I didn’t want to look at something really really small. I’m not using this as a reader. I bought a digital microscope but and somewhat unimpressed because I have to be a foot above the coin to be able to see the whole coin so I was hoping to be able to buy a hand magnifier with a 4 to 8 in lens that would give me nice easy clear views

I have not been able to personally view a selection of handheld glasses because what l need are too expensive for stores here to carry. I am therefore forced to go online. The problem there is to determine if what is offered meets my need. They all different prices from $5.00 to $1500.00. Apparently the greater the magnification the higher the price. So what do l order?

On Amazon 35mm & 50mm 3x glasses are available. Better to have 2 glasses of same size & put it in one case (cover) after opening original rivett , put two lens together having 2 or three small aluminum washers so glasses may not touch or rub each other & use a long rivett used in a baggage which at end has split part. I did that & works very nice for reading.

In the Warm Polarizer filter, Tiffen combines the properties of the polarizing filter with the exclusive effects of the 812® Warming Filter. This valuable filter adds natural warmth to all skin-tones, exterior shade and highlight areas. This is useful in outdoor open shade situations where there is excessive blue in the image and total control over lighting may not be possible.

2) Place the magnifying glass on a piece of white paper and see if the lens adds any color of its own. Then pick it up and examine other objects, specifically objects with more colors.

Good Morning, I have been trying to find out how to enlarge the field of view on the 5 glass magnifying system but have not received an answer after sending two pictures of the product as requested. Since it was done with your system it does not seem to give me a way of resending them at this time. Ed Shephard.

The view through the magnifying lens should be crystal clear with no internal reflections. Highlights should be sharp and brilliant, with no colored fringes. The lens should be achromatic. A flat object should not look buckled or warped. A magnifier should not be loosely put together.

I seek a magnifying glass to supplement my reading glasses but would like to try them out first. Where can I go to see and test before buying? My postal area is PE7 1QW.

Polarizing filters provide color and contrast enhancement. Reflected light often shows up as whitish glare that washes out color in an image. A Polarizer filter corrects this problem producing deep, dramatically blue skies. It also removes glare from non-metallic surfaces, such as windows and water. Color saturation in general, especially outdoors, can be improved significantly. Standard Polarizer filters blocks 1.5 stops of light.

It is better to join two 35 or 50mm , 3 or 3.5x magnifying glasses with having thin one or two washers between glasses ro avoid rubbing & using a rivet which has a split at the end & qhich is normally used on baggages. This combination of glasses works fine for reading very small written letters.

My mom has macular degeneration, and she’s completely blind in her left eye what type of magnifying, reader or glass would be good for her to be able to put words under there and see them. Please advise. Thank you.
