Double convex lensformula

Aspheric lenses contain at least one surface that is neither cylindrical or spherical and are used to correct spherical aberration while chromatic lenses are used to correct color/chromatic aberrations.

Bi-Convex or double-convex lenses have equal radii of curvature on both sides of the lens and work in a similar fashion to convex lenses in that they focus light into a single point. Bi-convex lenses are the tool of choice if the object and image are on opposite sides of the lens and the ratio of the image and object distances (conjugate ratio) is in the range of 0.2 to 5.

Optical lenses can be crafted with various properties such as Plano-Convex or Bi-Convex, which focuses light on a point while Plano-Concave and Double-Concave diverges the light beams.
