First Contact™ is a one-part easy to use strip coating polymer. It cleans and protects precision optics, telescopes, mirrors and surfaces in use, during storage, assembly and in shipping. Paint, spray, dip or pour liquid on, let it dry and peel off the flexible, strong, resilient film. First Contact is specially formulated to minimize surface adhesion and yet clean surfaces safely and effectively while leaving zero residue. Safe. Accepted. No residue.* It is an inert, non-toxic polymer system designed to remove dust, fingerprints, residues and contaminants from delicate, sensitive, and precision surfaces without scratching or damage. First Contact™ Polymer film also protects optics from physical and chemical damage in assembly, shipping, use and storage.
(If you are from outside the European union, please find your local dealer and buy the air duster from them. We can supply some Photonic Cleaning accessories worldwide, but not the flammable products. )

Lower explosion limit: approximately 2% (V) 70 g/m3 For liquids not relevant for classification and labelling., The lower explosion point may be 5 - 15 °C below the flash point. Thermal decomposition: appr. 300 °C Self ignition: Based on its structural properties the product is not classified as self- igniting.
*NOTE: Certain coatings have inherently poor adhesion, especially if manufactured without effective substrate preparation. Always test a non-critical section first, especially with gold and silver coatings. That being said, we and our customers have successfully protected and cleaned lots of gold and silver mirrors and gratings including those on the WM Keck Telescope and the Gemini North Silver. While we routinely clean diffraction gratings, the old adage about gratings still holds - don’t touch them unless you have to!
Max 1 litre in one parcel! (Basically, you may order more than 1L, but those will be packed in separate boxes, so you'll receive two or more boxes...this will make no difference to the shipping cost when delivered in the UK, but it'll make shipping more expensive when delivered to Europe. We'll contact you if there is a surcharge.)
Some Moravian Instruments cameras would also be available with various waiting time. Due to the large number of versions of these cameras we would only keep a very limted stock of the most popular types.
Certain products would need to be pre-ordered and might come with a few months production time. Radio2Space radio telescopes are such products and these are only available through 365Astronomy in the UK.

Possibility of hazardous reactions Reacts with acids. Evolution of explosive gases/vapors. Reacts with strong oxidizing agents. CHEMICAL PROPERTIES
General safety and hygiene measures Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice. Wearing of closed work clothing is required additionally to the stated personal protection equipment. Avoid contact with the skin, eyes and clothing. Do not inhale gases/vapors/aerosols. Take off immediately all contaminated clothing. Store work clothing separately.
First Contact Polymer™ Solutions safely clean and protect nanostructures, precision surfaces, optics, glass, fused silica, silicon, crystals, non-linear crystals, metals, Ge, ZnSe, NaCl, KBr, KRS-5, first surface mirrors and precision aerospace surfaces. First Contact™ Polymer also cleans and protects diffraction gratings, phase masks, and pinholes! Smooth or rough, flat or curved; AR and reflective coatings, all surfaces can be safely, easily cleaned and protected with FIRST CONTACT™. The fluid solution conforms to any contour, including nanostructured features, dries, and then the polymer film releases easily.
Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures Breathing protection required. Avoid contact with the skin, eyes and clothing. Protection against fire and explosion: Vapors may form explosive mixture with air. Prevent electrostatic charge - sources of ignition should be kept well clear - fire extinguishers should be kept handy. Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities Suitable materials for containers: carbon steel (iron), Stainless steel 1.4401, Stainless steel 1.4301 (V2), aluminum, tin (tinplate), glass, zinc coated, polyethylene, polypropylene, nylon.
