Für die Holographie wird nicht nur streng monochromatisches, sondern auch kohärentes, also phasengleiches Licht benötigt. Diese Bedingungen erfüllt das Laserlicht, das in der experimentellen Fotografie mitunter als frappierendes Effektlicht eingesetzt wird.
