As FINsix explains on its website, LEDs are not like incandescent lamps. They need direct current (DC) in order to work, just like our portable devices. This is the function of the driver: a power converter which provides the DC current, and controls and regulates the light’s intensity.

Unlike traditional power electronics, the new driver does not need inductors, transformers or electrolyte capacitors. It is produced using a no-touch manufacturing process which avoids wear-out mechanisms that cause early failure.
