AI’s popular HD functionality allows users to route unused power from one color channel to another. This much-loved feature from the previous generation HD fixtures is retained in the new product names (Prime 16HD, Hydra 32HD, and 64HD).

Control of the lights will utilize the existing myAI® app, which is free, simple, and very quick to program, offering onsite direct BLE connection through your smart device. Additional control options may become available for the new generation of Prime and Hydras over time.

The bracket for the 32HD and 64HD on the flex mount will change in the Flex Arm packaging. However, HMS mounting solutions remain the same, and Prime mounting solutions are also unchanged.

Mounting hardware available for Hydra and Prime fixtures will be compatible with the new version lights. The only exception is the Hydra Flex arm, which will require a different light bracket due to size differences in the new fixtures. The Flex arm bracket will change with the new fixtures, and older flex arms will need a new light bracket to mount the new lights.

Output in terms of PAR, color mixing, and spread is all improved with the new fixtures. The inclusion of more LEDs provides a more targeted full spectrum, while TIR lenses shape the light’s output and enhance its efficiency. The result is more vibrant colors, a slightly wider output area, and higher average PAR. A combination of LED placement and lens geometry further reduces color separation.

Redesigning the plastics in the Prime and Hydra lineup has resulted in two major benefits: better efficiency and improved aesthetics. Efficiency improvements reduce the demands on active cooling, leading to longer component life. Design enhancements thin the fixtures, reducing their overall profile and presence over your aquarium.

Water resistance is a significant advantage in aquarium lighting. While the new Prime and Hydras are not waterproof, design improvements make them more capable of handling the moisture-rich environments typical in reef keeping.

AIlight app

A dedicated moonlight LED and channel have been added in the new Prime HD, Prime FW, Hydra 32HD, and Hydra 64HD modules. This allows for independent moonlighting designed to simulate the natural lunar color and intensity.
