Nintendo and Illumination are excited to announce production on a new film in continuation of our partnership. This new animated film based on the world of Super Mario Bros. is planned to be released on April 3, 2026 in the US and many additional markets globally with select territories releasing throughout the month of April. The film will be produced by Chris Meledandri, Founder and CEO of #Illumination and Shigeru Miyamoto, Representative Director, Fellow of #Nintendo, directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, and written by Matthew Fogel.

Optical Filters and Dichroics are components which are used to transmit or block specific wavelengths of light, for the purpose of controlling light in an optical system.

Dichroic filters, also known as dichroic mirrors, are specialized optical filters that selectively transmit light of certain wavelengths while reflecting others. They are designed to work at specific angles of incidence, typically at 45 degrees.

The Technical Layout (TLO) department receives the approved shots from the Layout department. The artists check the conformity of all the elements (characters, sets and props) that appear in the shots to obtain consistent and complete scenes. The TLO also produces the layering in order to cut the shots in different layers of animation for the Crowd Animation department.The shots are then sent to the various Animation departments, who can start its own part of the production process.

Finally, Illumination Studios Paris hosts the Cocktail Artists Mixer every year. This event allows us to meet with various French animation schools in a more relaxed setting and to strengthen our relationships with artists.

Shortpass filters (sometimes called edge filters, short pass, Short-pass, or SP) transmit wavelengths below (SP) a certain wavelength. This wavelength is called a cutoff wavelength for shortpass filters. SP filters are often used in digital cameras to block undesired near-infrared (NIR) signals from reaching the camera. These types of filters are often called hot mirrors.
