A black light party is a themed party that uses black light illumination to create a unique, vibrant, and whimsical party atmosphere by having participants wear fluorescent costumes, paint with fluorescent oils, or place fluorescent decorations that show off fluorescent effects in the dark.

Guests arriving at the Zoo without Wild Illuminations tickets may buy tickets on grounds if tickets remain available.  Guests are encouraged to purchase tickets before arriving at the Zoo to guarantee availability.

UV lights typically include UV-A, UV-B, and UV-C bands, while blacklights refer to lamps that primarily emit UV-A bands. Guests will walk through the Zoo to experience holiday lanterns. Tram will not operate during this evening event. Guests looking to rent a wheelchair or electric scooter are highly recommended to place an advanced reservation. Quantities are limited. Without a reservation, rentals are on a first-come, first-served basis and there is no guarantee of availability. To make a mobility assistance reservation, please call 412-365-6020.

The time on tickets indicates the half-hour range you will enter the Zoo but does not require a specific exit time. Once admitted to the Zoo at the listed time for the event, you may stay in the park as long as preferred, or until park close. Plan-Ahead tickets must be used on the selected evening, and are not transferrable to other nights.

Guests looking to experience the season can receive one pair of Holiday Specs diffraction glasses per person and can enjoy our family-friendly seasonal VR Theater show, “Elf Power,” a five minute animated sleigh ride with Santa and his elves over snow-capped mountains on a present delivery mission. Animals will not be visible in their public habitat during evening hours. To see all Zoo animals, you may also plan a daytime visit. Please note that the Zoo will fully close for an hour and a half between daytime operation and nighttime Wild Illuminations.

For guests of all ages, this pack includes one ride on the Holiday Express Train (the popular ride you love, decked out in special seasonal displays), and one set of Holiday Specs diffraction glasses that diffract light into festive shapes and patterns. Family fun for all ages.

These work great for LED lights... They are small, compact, lightweight and portable. They do light up the room with more ambient light then the traditional Florescent Black lights with ballasts (which is probably good for kids parties), but I wish they weren't so bright (so the neon colors would pop more) but for the price, the convince and low wattage they are great.

I was very worried because it’s like a hit or miss with black lights. I purchased (4) 30w of these black lights and it was great. I placed one on each wall (floor), and it was great. Everyone had a blast especially with all the glow items I had purchased too. The square footage of this place was close to 900sf ft. So four lights was on the spot, no need for more.

I think I ended up paying like 13 bucks each for these, thinking they would be small or not so bright. I wanted to light up a reactant dart scorboard. I plugged one in and it was like... have you seen the Oppenheimer movie yet? These things really put out some serious light, you could probably get a whole outdoor lawn glowing with two. Powerful!!!
