Forest Protection Limited is a ground-based operation with 11 reload bases strategically located throughout New Brunswick, equipped with fire retardant, foam, and water. These reload bases allow aircraft to reattack the fire in the most expeditious manner possible. During the forest fire season, we split our firefighting aircraft into two teams, based at the Fredericton Airport (CYFC). Depending on the fire hazard, aircraft may be moved or “day based” to other reload bases province-wide for quick response. This asset allocation provides rapid response to forest fires with our objective to have an aircraft over a fire almost immediately following dispatch.
