If you want a copy of an accident report, call the routine business line during office hours at 319.248.1800. There is a $5 fee to obtain a copy of an accident report. Criminal reports are not released to the public without a subpoena. The Police Department is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 7:00 pm.
The Coralville Police Department does not currently have a Reserve Officer program. If you are looking for the opportunity to volunteer in law enforcement in the Johnson County area, both the University Heights Police Department and the Johnson County Sheriff's Office have active Reserve Officer programs.

Please refer to Chapter 69.08 of the Coralville Code of Ordinances. In addition, a police officer is authorized to impound a vehicle if it has accumulated three or more parking citations where payment of such is 30 or more days overdue. In addition to the penalties, the owner or driver of the impounded vehicle shall be responsible for the costs of towing and storage. This is addressed in chapter 70.06 of the Coralville Code of Ordinances.

Yes, an officer can attempt to unlock your car if you've been locked out. There is no fee for this service, but you will be required to sign a waiver of liability prior to the officer attempting to unlock your car. In the event that you are locked out of your car, call the Police Department's routine business line at 319.248.1800. Be prepared to tell the dispatcher your name, where you are, and what kind of car you are locked out of.

The Coralville Police Department has a Student Internship Program that is open to students enrolled in a four-year degree program and has a junior or senior status at an accredited university or college OR a student that is enrolled in a two-year degree program and will have completed two thirds of the required credits for a degree. The student must also have 2.5 or higher grade point average on a 4.0 scale and be currently enrolled in an internship or independent study course. Unfortunately, due to a high demand for internships in the area, our agency does not offer internships to high school students or college students that don't meet these criteria. If it is a solicitor - someone trying to sell you something or asking for money - they must have a permit issued by the City Clerk in their possession that can be produced upon inquiry. Licensed solicitors in Coralville are only allowed to conduct business between 8 am and 7 pm, Monday through Saturday. If a solicitor is unable to produce a permit, is selling outside those hours, or seems suspicious, contact the Coralville Police Department at 319.248.1800 to report the incident.

You will need the parking ticket and/or the citation number.
The Coralville Police Department encourages all community members to be mindful of the people whom they interact with and with whom they allow their children to interact with, and to take appropriate security and safety precautions. Citizens who would like to access the DCI sexual offender database, can do so by visiting Iowa Sex Offender Registry. Please be mindful of the fact that sexual offenders who were convicted prior to July 1, 1995, are not required by law to register as sexual offenders.

Call your bank and notify them that your checkbook was lost or stolen if it was. Then call the following companies and put them on fraud alert for your credit card numbers: Equifax: 1.800.525.6285 Experian: 1.888.EXPERIAN (397.3742) Trans Union: 1.800.680.7289 Social Security Administration Fraud Hotline: 1.800.269.0271 It is a good idea to keep the phone numbers to your credit card companies along with your credit card numbers in a secure location in your home. Then, in the event that your cards are lost or stolen, you will have all of the information you need in order to report it to your companies.
If your vehicle has been impounded by the Coralville Police Department, your vehicle will need to be released by our agency before you will be able to pick it up from the towing company. The registered owner of the vehicle must present themselves to the Coralville Police Department with a photo ID to sign the vehicle release form. If for any reason the registered owner is not able to present themselves to the Coralville Police Department, the person intending to sign the vehicle release form must present their photo ID along with a notarized letter from the registered owner indicating their desire to have that agent pick up their vehicle from impound.
Registering your bicycle through the police department will help law enforcement identify your bicycle and the owner in the event your bicycle is lost, stolen, recovered, or involved in an accident. Bicycles can be registered at the Coralville Police Department anytime during our normal business hours. This service is free for Coralville residents and you will need to have the following information with you at the time of registration: - Make and model - Serial number - Number of speeds - Wheel size - Frame type (single bar, double bar, female) - Color - Name, address, and phone number of licensee

The Coralville Police Department does not offer fingerprinting services. If you are affiliated with the University of Iowa as faculty, staff, or a student, the University of Iowa Police Department has fingerprinting services available during limited hours for a fee. Public fingerprinting services are also available at the Johnson County Jail. Please contact these departments directly for more information, as hours and fees are subject to change.
