The Clayco Foundation is determined to find a cure for Retinal Vasculopathy with Cerebral Leukodystrophy (RVCL). RVCL is a rare and fatal genetic condition affecting the central nervous system, causing the deterioration of small blood vessels in the brain and eyes of those affected. Most patients begin experiencing vision loss and strokes in their early 40s and have an average lifespan of eight years following their first symptoms. Rare disease affects nearly all of us. 30 million people in the United States are living with some form of the rare disease; that’s close to 1 in 10 people.

The F-POF-1000-C step index multimode plastic optical fiber features a core diameter of 1000µm.  The fluorinated polymer cladding material makes the cable more flexible than it's glass counterparts.  A 2.18mm outer jack provides additional strength and environmental protection.  A high numerical aperature of .58 allows for greater coupling efficiencies while making these fibers optimal for applications requiring tight bending or coiling of fibers.  Typical applications include medical, industrial, and avionic snesors and instruments.  The operating temperature of the F-POF-1000-C is -40°C to +85° C.
