I know the nature of policing has changed to accomodate changes in the environment in which police operate. I am aware of many of the circumstances which have led to all of this, but can’t help but wonder whether the sheer volume and weight of the kit police need to carry these days isn’t more of an encumbrance than it is helpful. I know you guys do evaluate these matters very carefully, but I’m curious how you weigh up the need for each item of kit against how it can weigh a police officer down.

I can see where VIC Pol are coming from to recruit, but from a security perspective why do you need to advertise in great detail what a Police Officer has to carry for protective equipment for those on the front line and to protect the public (even down to magazine on their firearms) after reading your detailed list, incorrect firearm by the way…..but really!, (where’s the risk assessment in this advert) C’mon VIC Pol 🤷🏾♂️ wouldn’t it be better to focus on how well they train at the academy and interaction with the public… ?
