The Canadian Red Cross Instructor Development Course empowers candidates to effectively teach Red Cross First Aid/CPR courses. The course presents educational learning theory and teaching principles to help the participant understand the basics of instruction. The Red Cross has laid out a Five Step Process (please review) that must be completed to achieve the Red Cross Instructor certificate. 2) You hold a current Red Cross Water Safety Instructor/Trainer certificate or a Bachelor of Education Degree. This may exempt you from completing Step 2 of the process: Fundamentals of Instruction Classroom-Component.

3) You hold a current Red Cross First Aid/CPR instructor certificate but have not taught the minimum number of courses required for recertification . This may exempt you from completing Step 3 of the process: Discipline Specific-Classroom Component.
