Previously, we already share to you on what you’ll get when you open the Oculus Quest 2 package when it arrived. This time we would like to share to you on how to charge Oculus Quest 2. And this is based on our own experience.

One challenge for us is that the Power Adapter provided in the box is using the two pin while our country using the three pin. Hence, we need to find a Universal Power Adapter to connect the Oculus Power Adapter to it.

When we start to charge it, you can see the LED light turns to Orange color. It is located at the right side of the headset. We thought it is Red at first, but upon further checking at Oculus website, actually the color is Orange.

When we received the Quest for the first time, the headset still got some power. But we are not sure how much left. After we set it up, we can immediately used it to play few rounds of “Beat Saber” game. But after a while, it will show message that suggested you to begin to charge it. We used it to the max until we cannot turn it on since no more power left. This might means the battery is already zero.

In terms of timing or charging duration, when we start to charge it, the time is at 7.11pm. And it finish charging around 8.49pm. Meaning to say, it takes around 98 minutes or around one and a half hour to charge Oculus Quest 2 until it is fully charged. Anyway, this is the first time we charge it.

First, we connect the Charging Cable to the Power Adapter. It looks like a USB Type-C cable or commonly known as USB-C. However, from their Safety and Warranty Guide, they asked us to charge ONLY with their power adapter and cable that comes inside the box. And after we have used it for around 2 months, we notice the time taken is now nearly 2 hours. Not so sure how the timing will looks like in the future. But maybe you can use it as some sort of estimation.

For your info, inside the headset, it contains a rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery. And the important thing you need to know is that it is not user replaceable or serviceable. If something happen to your battery headset, do not open it yourself. Instead, please contact Oculus Support.

This is the default battery that comes with the Oculus Quest 2. The brand that we get is “Mitsubishi Electric Alkaline, Dry Battery, 1.5V, LR6, Size AA“.
