The calculation of speed is based upon GPS position and hence distance travelled over time taken. This is a complicated algorithm and there may indeed be some discrepancy between devices, as it is a calculated speed, not an actual speed as measured by your road wheels.

Yes especially with the HD files on the Nextbase dash cams, the continuous recording combined with continuous power causes the dash cam to heat up. Steps are taken within the dash cam design to ensure this heat dissipates as quickly as possible, therefor not causing any damage to the dash cam or SD card.

As dashcams are legal on Canadian roads there is no licence or documentation required. Audio recording is not illegal either from a privacy perspective on internal cameras, but we mute as a preferred installation. We recommend using our installers, as, legally it must not block the view of the driver.

The dash cam will automatically delete the oldest file and replace it with a new one, ensuring you have the most relevant data on the SD card. There are two reasons the dash cam will report this error message, either the SD card is not working correctly and cannot overwrite once its full or it has become full of protected files.

Check the SD card is class 10, between 8Gb and 128Gb, a recognized brand and not counterfeit. You can contact our Technical Support Centre with photos of both sides of the SD card and we can assist you in confirming the above, the card manufacturer can also assist with this.
