Polarizing filters are used to help to reduce specular reflections from shiny, nonmetal surfaces. Smart Vision Lights’ polarizer material has a typical transmission of about 40% while blocking about 60% of the light not in the plane of polarization. The polarizer is placed in front of the light and is available as an option with our visible wavelength lights.

The IVP-C1 inline manual intensity control module offers the option to externally control the intensity of a light via the 270-degree potentiometer. The 4ZMD is an external driver with four individual built-in channels, allowing control of up to four zones within a single light or four individual lights with no built-in drivers. Users can set different intensity levels for each zone channel because they act independently of each other. Also, depending on the channel’s configuration, intensity controls can adjust the intensity for either continuous operation or OverDrive™ strobe mode. The 4ZMD works with the LLM LED Light Manager to support continuous operation and varying any intensity levels for each channel.

The 4WMD is a four-channel external driver developed for multi-wavelength lights. The 4WMD permits up to four individual wavelengths to be controlled independently of each other. This external driver includes Multi-Drive™, which allows a single channel to drive LEDs in continuous operation or OverDrive™ strobe mode separate from the other channels. At the front of the driver, you can find a tuning location for each output channel. Bar Lights, also known as Linear Array Lights, offer both bright field and dark field illumination, depending on angle of incidence with respect to the object of interest. Connect-a-Light Series of Linear Lights allow you to daisy-chain multiple lights together to increase overall length. The Connect-a-Light series also features an integrated constant current driver and a continuous operation mode.

Dark field ring lights provide illumination that is projected at a shallow angle to the imaging surface, 45 degrees or less. Typical applications include reflective flat surface defect or edge detection. Bright field ring lights provide illumination directly onto an object, at angles of incidence above 45 degrees from horizontal, creating distinct shadows or general purpose illumination depending on subjects features. Ring lighting can be useful in the electronics industry for inspecting bump area, position and diameter in a semiconductor.

Spot or projector lights are typically characterized as general-purpose illuminators. They may be used to create both bright field and dark field effects, depending on the light angle of incidence. Smart Vision projector lights offer maximized light output for high-level visibility.

Smart Vision Lights has Diffuser kits available. A diffuser is used to homogenize lighting structure by distributing source light over a scattering/translucent area to produce an effective light-emitting surface. This is useful for illuminating shiny surfaces or large areas, where source direction and structure can pose a limitation for imaging systems.
