"If you buy a pair of eclipse glasses online or from a store, please make sure they are from a trusted source," Garcia said. "If you can see your hand in front of your face with the glasses on, if you can see, they're not good."

Looking into the eyepieces, you'll see the effect of the anti-relex-coating and the blackened lens edges. The coating is so good that it seems like there are no lenses at all! On our optical bench, we couldn't find any disadvantages compared to so-called "planetary eyepieces" which cost five times more.

NEW YORK -- Limited edition "I Love NY" solar eclipse glasses are now available statewide ahead of the April 8 total solar eclipse.

Experts say it is important to wear protective eclipse glasses, which are 1,000 times darker than sunglasses and adhere to international safety standards.

Using an OPFA, you can set the magnification almost without limits by changing the distance between eyepiece and camera sensor. You can find information on calculating the resulting focal length in the description of the OPFA-system. For best results and highest resolution, you should use the Fluorit Flatfield Converter (FFC / 3x-8x) instead, which was designed especially for projection photography.

The Classic Plössl is perfectly suited for afocal projection with the ADPS (Afocal Digital Projection System) and a compact camera with fixed lens the eyepiece's large lens on the camera side reduces vignetting, so that you can use a larger part of the camera sensor. Reds may appear to fade, while greens and blues will come alive," said Garcia. "Pay attention to how colors around you change -- a great science experiment. And ask people in your group to wear red and green so that you can have the full effect."

The state is distributing the free "I Love NY" eclipse glasses at 30 locations, including welcome centers and service areas.
