Without AR coating, glare will match the color of the light reflecting off your lenses, often appearing white, with more pronounced reflections.
As an added benefit, the lack of glare also makes your glasses easier so see through for others. That means they will be able to more clearly see your facial expressions and eyes as they interact with you. Given that more than 90 percent of all communication happens non-verbally, this feature can actually be crucial to successfully getting your points across.

The prescription glasses can be upgraded with special coatings such as anti-fog and anti-reflective coating to improve their overall performance. For the latter, you can choose either anti-reflective coating (AR) or AR with blue blocker coating.
AR coating is typically applied in one of two ways: as part of the initial manufacturing process, or after the lens has already been customized. Both options help to inform the central question to be answered in this article.

Too often, bright lights result in glare that actually makes it more difficult to see. The stronger your prescription is, the more likely your lenses are to result in glare.
If your lenses are in good shape and scratch-free, we can add the AR coating and send them back to you, good as new. The AR coating will reduce glare, improve clarity, and even make your glasses easier to clean. It’s a simple way to enhance your current glasses without needing a whole new pair.
When adding an anti-reflective coating to your lenses, the quality of the application is crucial. Whether you choose to add it during your initial lens purchase or afterward, it’s essential to ensure that the process is handled by a trustworthy vendor with a reliable method.

Traditional glass tends to deflect light that falls directly on it. Anyone who has seen sunshine reflected back knows what that means. Unfortunately, without the right coating, the same can be true for your glasses.
Regular plastic lenses, for instance, reflect about 8 percent of the light back outside. That means less light enters your vision, making it more difficult to see. Worse, the light that does get reflected results in the glare that troubles so many of us when driving or wearing glasses in general.

Unfortunately not. It’s not a good idea to apply anti-reflective coating to old lenses. It should be done during the process, so they would need to be remade.
The answer to this question is an unequivocal yes. In fact, the decision to add anti-reflective coating to your eyewear should be made as soon as possible. If you choose AR before the purchase, it can be integrated into the manufacturing process to be more cost-effective and integrated.
Here at RX Safety, we apply coatings during the lens manufacturing process for optimal results. Lenses are placed in a vacuum-sealed chamber and bombarded with electrons, which adhere to the lens surface to form a durable layer that minimizes reflection and glare.

While some vendors might use simpler methods like spraying the coating on after purchase, this approach tends to be less effective and less durable.
To check if your lenses already have AR coating, tilt your glasses and observe the reflections. With AR coating, you’ll see minimal glare and notice a faint greenish or pinkish hue. If there’s no strong light source, the lenses should appear quite clear.
(Anti-reflective coating) is made of a very hard thin film that is layered on the lens. It is made of material that has an index of refraction that is somewhere between air and glass. This causes the intensity of the light reflected from the inner surface and the light reflected from the outer surface of the film to be nearly equal.
An anti-reflective coating can remedy that situation. In fact, modern coatings allow more than 99 percent of all light to pass through the lens, minimizing the resulting glare or any other negative effects.
If your current lenses are scratched or showing signs of wear, it might be better to order new lenses with an anti-reflective coating. This way, you’ll get the full benefits of the AR coating without worrying about old damage affecting your vision. You can simply reuse your existing frame, and we’ll craft new lenses that fit perfectly.
Adding anti-reflective coating to lenses costs $40, however we no longer apply coatings to lenses that have already been made. We now only apply AR and other coatings to our lenses during production.
Given these benefits, it often makes sense to add anti-reflective coating to any lenses you buy. But when you do, what actually happens to provide you with these benefits? HowStuffWorks.com has a thorough explanation of the process:
When applied in a thickness of about a quarter of light’s wavelength, the two reflections from each side of the film basically cancel each other out through destructive interference, minimizing the glare you see. AR coatings are also applied to the front of prescription eyewear and some sunglasses to eliminate the “hot spot” glare that reflects off the lens.
The good news is, you can send us your existing glasses, and we’ll apply an anti-reflective (AR) coating to your lenses. However, it’s important to note that while the AR coating will enhance your lenses, any existing scratches will remain visible. The coating does not repair or conceal scratches, so if your lenses are heavily scratched, you might want to consider other options.
