The Romans discovered the special effects of the thermal water bubbling up from the springs at the foot of the Florentinerberg 2000 years ago. Emperor Caracalla led the bathing culture in Baden-Baden to its first heyday and paved the way for the spa and bathing town, which today - thanks to the unbroken tradition of using thermal water from antiquity to the present day - can count itself among the Great Spa Towns of Europe. Built in 1985, the Caracalla Spa features many Roman elements, columns and antiques that are reminiscent of tradition.
