Blemished Sheets 20"x 11" MAGIC BLACK Solas3™ ADHESIVE BACKED SHEETS Our large print runs ( over 400 sheets at a time) yeild several blemished sheets. Blemished sheets may have tiny white dots, touch ups that didn't blend in, dirt particles in the ink, streaks of darker black or lighter black, odd textures in the solas or other solas material defects. Blemished sheets are completely functional and do not effect the IR Reflectivity of the sheet.

As seen from the table, multispectral imagery is largely limited to enabling analysis based on the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NVDI) and cannot, for instance, distinguish or classify weeds, diseases or pests. Multispectral cameras can measure generic characteristics such as if a plant is healthy or not, but hyperspectral images can go much further, and diagnose the exact reason for that state. In this sense, multispectral imaging is analogue of the blood pressure or heart rate measurements in medicine, while hyperspectral imaging is analogue of MRI scan, used to diagnose specific diseases.

NON-ADHESIVE 20"x 11" MAGIC BLACK Solas3™ POLYESTER ( PLASTIC) BACKED SHEETS

All three types of Solas3™ ( adhesive, mylar backed and fabric) can be sewn with an industrial sewing machine.  Special considerations must be taken to sew Solas successfully.   When sewing to a suitable fabric or to a piece of velcro, use thread comparable to #69 nylon or a equivalent acceptable thread. Sew a 301 or 3/16 inch (4.75 mm) lockstitch using 5-12 stitches per inch. We do recommend that you test the sewn final product to ensure the results are acceptable for your application. Stitches averaging 7-9 stitches per inch would give better tear-strength results. Using a titanium needle is suggested when sewing thick layers. Sewing Solas3™  or 3M Fabric Solas may require cleaning the sewing needle with a glue remover at regular intervals to prevent thread snapping.  There is a very strong adhesive which bonds the 3M Fabric Solas layers to each other, this will gum up the sewing needle, making embroidery of 3M Fabric Solas impossible.

IR Magic Black Solas3™ is a Covert IR Material that is only Reflective when viewed with night vision equipment. This matt black Military grade IR material, can be used for making IR patches, pinstriping and other products that require a covert/IR reflective. Magic Black coating covers the reflective surface so that it does not reflect normal light and appears as black to the unaided eye. Magic Black is made and developed by Anytime Sign. We regulate the quality and thickness on our screen printed products for ultimate opacity in the visible spectrum. In the infrared spectrum (750-1500 nm) Magic Black becomes transparent allowing for the SOLAS3™ to reflect light back to Night Vision equipment, providing crystal-clear friend or foe identification. When 3M Company discontinued 3M Solas material in 2020, we had a Solas material specifically manufactured so we could continue to offer products with as close as possible adhesive, appearance, and sewing characteristics as 3M Solas material. Solas3™ is a USCG certified material.

Raw Reflective Solas3™ products are Not Covert, and will reflect light under any condition. Both IR Magic Black Solas3™ and Raw Reflective Solas3™ reflect brightly when viewed with night vision equipment. Materials called "Economy IR" are NOT considered miltary grade.

Magic Black Infrared Reflective Sheeting is made with either SOLAS3 or ECONOMY reflective backing. The magnet is the highest quality 30 mil magnet made for use on vehicles that travel on bumpy roads at high speeds. Military Grade Magic Magic Black Infrared Reflective Magnetic Sheeting is made with SOLAS3. The Magic Black Economy Infrared Reflective Magnetic Sheeting is made with 3M reflective sheeting. SOLAS sheeting is visible from helicopter heights. The Economy sheeting look is as reflective as SOLAS3 only up to 30 feet. After 30 feet, SOLAS3 is far more visble than the Economy sheeting. Military applications usually require SOLAS3. If you are not sure which product will work for your application, order the Magic Black Infrared Reflective Sheeting Sample Kit for $18 with free shipping. The kit comes with a 9" x 3" piece of SOLAS and a 9" x 3" piece of Economy Magic Black Infrared Reflective Magnetic Sheeting.

Higher spectral resolution of the hyperspectral imaging predetermines the high information content of the hyperspectral data, which is 10 times higher than NDVI. As hyperspectral imaging allows to identify unique physiological crop traits, it becomes possible to identify crop diseases, pests and nutrient deficiencies, due to ability to correlate spectral signature with changes in the plant physiology. Hyperspectral imaging can identify and classify different type of weeds, wild vegetation and crop varieties, due to the fact that each specie of vegetation and variety of crop has its unique spectral signature.

Hyperspectralcamera

The spectral resolution is the main factor that distinguishes hyperspectral imagery from multispectral imagery. Based on spectral responses, hyperspectral imagery captures more narrow bands than multispectral in the same portion of the electromagnetic spectrum. The advantage of a higher spectral resolution gives ability to distinguish between different crop characteristics, which in turn provides ability to address more and much more complicated farming issues. The greater/finer detail in a scene, the more likely unique crop characteristics and physiological traits are to be defined.

RGBvs multispectral vs hyperspectral

Another important difference between multispectral and hyperspectral imagery is the ability to use AI and machine learning, facilitated by the high informational content of hyperspectral data. This allows to continually improve existing products and develop new products. Multispectral imaging technology lacks the information richness to enable continual development. Therefore, hyperspectral imaging is positioned to become a main remote sensing technology used on a global scale for various agricultural applications.

The table below reveals the main differences between multispectral and hyperspectral imaging, highlighting the ability to address specific agricultural applications.

Multispectralcamera

Hyperspectral imagery has been available for 20–30 years, but it’s been an extremely expensive exercise constructing the equipment, hiring developers, and analyzing the terabytes of data, so has mainly been used by large research institutes (Carnegie Airborne Observatory, ETHZ, etc.), space agencies and the military. Below we would like to compare multispectral vs hyperspectral imaging and clarify what are the real benefits of hyperspectral imaging in agriculture.

IR Magic Black Solas3™ and Raw Reflective Solas3™ come in many die cut sizes with Vlecro backing, or adhesive. IR Magic Black Solas3™ and Raw Reflective Solas3™, are sold in full sheets 20"x11" and come in adhesive backed, Gold ( mylar backed) , or sew-on fabric SOLAS (fabric is 3M)

Gamaya is a data analytics company that empowers farmers with unprecedented in-depth understanding of their lands and crops using unique hyperspectral imaging and artificial intelligence. Gamaya is one of the first commercial company that makes hyperspectral imaging accessible for commercial applications, such as precision agriculture, at the cost comparable to multispectral imaging. The hyperspectral camera, developed by Gamaya, is not our primary goal. Our core expertise is in the analysis and interpretation of hyperspectral data using artificial intelligence to produce the information about the plant physiology.

IR Magic Black Solas3™ sheets are actually 21" x 12", but there is small border around the outside edge that is un-coated, so they are sold as a 20"x11" IR Magic Black Solas3™ is NOT THERMAL material, and will not glow when viewed with a thermal viewer or camera.

NON-ADHESIVE 20"x 11" RAW REFLECTIVE Solas3™ POLYESTER ( PLASTIC) BACKED SHEETS

To sum up, hyperspectral imaging is the most information-rich source of spectral data and provides multiple benefits over multispectral imagery to address different farming issues, such as detection of diseases, pests, NPK deficiencies, identification of weeds and other. Precision agriculture requires more than RGB information or multispectral imagery, and currently the hyperspectral imaging is the most advanced technology for remote sensing applications.
