Just like ordinary clear lenses, original Transitions lenses are clear when indoors and at night. Once outdoors, these lenses conveniently adapt to varying light conditions and become darker in either grey or brown activated color options. These everyday lenses provide continuous comfort and peace of mind by decreasing glare, reducing eye fatigue and blocking 100% of UV rays. This lens option is ideal for kids too!

Polarized lenses are the top recommendation for boaters and fishermen, golfers, drivers, bikers, hunters, and joggers, just to name a few. For these activities, they offer a clearer view by eliminating the glare.

Since every pixel in the files is either pure black or pure white, it doesn’t matter what grayscale profile you assign. Gray Gamma 2.2 is as good as anything.

And here’s a really big file (12000×12000 pixels, 200 spokes), for those making a really big target. There’s a fair amount of aliasing towards the center, but that should all be a blur in actual use.

Polarization is a contrast enhancement technique that can reduce back reflections and bring out features not readily visible with normal viewing. Polarized Lenses eliminate glare. Any surface can create glare in sunlight, including water, sand, snow, buildings, windows and vehicles. They can, in fact, reduce the glare that comes off a long, flat surface such as the hood of a car on the highway.

Single Vision lenses have the same power throughout (top and bottom) and can be used to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, or a combination of these disorders. Most people who wear glasses before the age of 40 have Single Vision lenses.

For optimal results, don’t scale the targets; send them to your printer driver at 360 ppi in the case of the Epson files, or 300 ppi for the Canon ones. If you want to print on smaller paper, crop the targets, but print at 360 or 300 ppi. If you want bigger targets, scale them using bilinear interpolation.

Below are links to six printable targets. All are sized for 16-inch (410 mm) stars. All are binary (not sinusoidal). There are three stars for Epson printers, which want 360 ppi input images, and three for Canon printers, which take 300 pi images. Bifocal lenses have two parts: the upper part normally used for distance vision and the lower part used for near vision tasks such as reading. Many people after reaching age 45 develop a condition called Presbyopia, which is a deterioration in the ability of the eye’s natural lens to expand or contract in order to focus on close objects. People with Presbyopia need a special lens for reading and may need a different lens for seeing in the distance.

The gray, smoke or green lenses are the most popular because not only do they cut the bright light but they also help keep the colors appearing the most natural and true. Polarized lenses can also be used indoors by those persons with light-sensitive eyes or those exposed to bright light through windows or while on the computer.

Trifocal lenses have three different focus areas: the top for distance, the center for intermediate vision, and the bottom for near vision.

Multifocal literally means “having more than one focus” so bifocal and trifocal lenses are actually types of multifocal lenses. In addition to bifocal and trifocal lenses, the other multifocal is a progressive addition (no-line bifocal) lens that increases in power from the top to bottom of the lens. Progressive lenses have no clear dividing lines as the focus changes from bottom to top. Progressive addition lenses avoid the “image jump” in the visual field created by bifocal and trifocal lenses and are more cosmetically attractive.
