This effective focal length calculator helps you select a lens to use with your camera. The calculator takes your target field of view (angle of view) and camera specification then provides the required lens EFL.The calculator uses the camera lens focal length equation. This formula is different than the lens maker's equation which is intended for simple thin lens elements. The Optical Effective Focal Length (EFL) should not be confused with the Mechanical Back-Focal Length (BFL). The EFL determines the field of view of the camera while the BFL determines whether a lens will focus on a camera.

Fluorophoresin fluorescence microscopy
The IMPRS for Biology and Computation, Berlin, offers several PhD positions to outstanding students at the interface between biology and computation.
Fluorescence microscopy is one of the most powerful tools in the life-sciences toolkit. The unique spectral properties of fluorescent dyes and proteins, collectively called fluorophores, have allowed scientists to capture snapshots — and even movies — of the microscopic universe that makes biology tick. Yet scientists are still perplexed by the fundamental chemistry that keeps the lights on.
It is difficult to measure the wavelength of light accurately using the interference pattern from either a double slit or a single slit.
