And so the camera shop, which has been on the west side near downtownfor nearly 75 years, is opening up "My Photo Studio" in what used tobe a tavern at 501 Lincoln Way W. next to Gene's Camera Store.

"We decided that a good related business (to Gene's Camera Store)could be a rental studio because dozens and dozens and possiblyhundreds of my customers who have part-time photography businesseswork out of their homes and don't really have a proper studio."

"The idea is to brand it in a non-branded way," he explained. "If youwere a photographer and working out of your home and scheduled anappointment with a client of yours, you will not want to say, 'Meet medown at Gene's Camera Store.'"

The store has diversified by holding classes (free for those who buy acamera there), by offering camera rentals and by featuring a formatprinting department that can print large graphics.

"You can come next door to print pictures or they might need a certaincolor of background paper. They can come over and buy it."
