We complement these special capabilities with robotic optics polishing plus systems design and integration. Our technology and insight enable us to optimize laser damage threshold while also controlling film stress and wavefront quality. This is critical to producing optics that maintain wavefront stability and film integrity in vacuum environments.

Are you concerned about pinholes in the paint, coating or lining of your vessel, tank, pipeline or industrial equipment? These defects can have a catastrophic effect on the underlying substrate if not located and rectified prior to being placed in service. Here we look into the causes and prevention of pinholes.

Coatings are available for 526-nm, 1054-nm and broadband coatings for center wavelengths at either 800 or 900 nm. Our OOW-HRV-800-45 design provides nearly 200-nm of bandwidth.

High Performance Grade:  This is the state of the art. Reflected wavefront error is controlled to λ/50 rms. Diffracted features in the image plane such as satellite focii rings and scatter are < 10-6 in intensity compared with the central focus maxima. We also provide and industry leading envelope fuction over the PSD to control amplitudes of mid-spatial frequency errors. The result is a focusing performance that will optimize the results of your beam line.

2. Surface Contamination – An unclean or poorly prepared surface is a common culprit when it comes to sources of contamination. This can be easily avoided by use of a competent surface preparation specialist and following the correct Quality Assurance Procedures.

Precision Grade:  This is the most popular grade. Reflected wavefront error is controlled to λ/20 rms. We also provide and industry leading envelope function over the PSD to control amplitudes of mid-spatial frequency errors. Precision grade is the best combination of great performance and affordable price.

1. Environmental Control – High humidity and high ambient temperatures are a common cause of pinholes. Ensure the environmental conditions and parameters detailed within the supplier data sheets are fully adhered to.

4. Fabrication Defects – Pinholes are often found in poorly constructed weld seams and as a consequence of punch marks or pitted substrate. Compliance with fabrication standards is essential.

5. Insufficient Film Thickness – Pinholes are sometimes the result of under application where the lining film has not fully coalesced and therefore does not provide a fully formed film.

Standard Grade:  Standard grade provides you with reflected wavefront error < λ/10 rms. We make standard grade OAPs with the same production equipment and staff as Precision and High Performance – but the emphasis is on affordability.

Our unique capabilities derive from a core competency in aspheric optics and strategic relationships with Okamoto Optics Works of Yokohama Japan and Plymouth Grating Laboratory. We access special resources available at Okamoto Optics such as a 4.3m polishing machines and a 2-meter electron beam coating chamber with IAD (Ion Assisted Deposition).
