Digital single-lens reflex camera - cameras and optics
Hello there. I have a rather weird question. I believe you heard about the AI-powered Sound2Light controllers that came to market this year. Specifically, the MaestroDMX and the Force 1 by A.I.Lightshows

I'm in this weird situation where I want to offer more complex light shows than auto mode on each fixture to go along with the Events I Do, as Clients are usually extremely impressed by them, but they don't really have the budget for an light technician. In this case, I usually used SoundSwitch, as the DJ that I worked with (and still do from time to time) is a good friend of mine, so whenever something came up, I got access to his Playlists so that I could do the Scripts within SoundSwitch. I usually used the Autoscript feature, but from time to time I also did them by hand. However, recently I worked with some different DJs, so that didn't really work anymore. Also, it was usually quite a hassle for both parties involved and would not really suffice long-term. Looking for solutions, I stumbled onto the mentioned products. I didn't really find many reviews, etc., especially from A.I.Lightshows were the only Videos showcasing their products done by them, so a bit of skepticism surfaced about the actual usability of these Products. Also, I couldn't really find anything else on them—nothing about fixture support, Programming venues, etc. All in all, very sparse information. I obviously don't expect them to match SoundSwitch AutoScript, let alone hand-made shows. The main thing I want is something like Auto Mode, but instead of each fixture acting on its own, I'd like it more if it acted like the Whole venue was one. Also, optionally, just a bit more complex than f.e. SoundSwitch Autoloops.
So after reading a bit more, and seeing that the AI Lightshow Force 1 was sold out I bit my tongue and just bought a Maestro DMX. It arrived fairly quickly. At the first test, I was a bit concerned. It sometimes seemed to shit the bed if it got confused with the song. But after a gig with it, I was fairly Positively surprised, turns out that if you do not watch the Lightshow with your Full attention for minutes on end you kinda don't realize those. That or they did not happen anymore while on the gig. So What should one use one of these. If you have a little festival, that runs on a tight budget (Carnival in Switzerland f.e.) Those things DEFINITELY are a big step up from Auto Mode on Fixtures. The light at a little Party I did with about 60 People (one Speaker on a Fridge, after a Concert and Someone connected with Bluetooth, we had two Lightbars and 3 Spots connected up in a row behind the bar) looked hella nice compared to the year prior on auto mode! The presets (Smooth, Dance, energetic, etc.) all work fine and reasonably represent the Words that named them. One of my favorites about the Setup/maintenance Process is the Phone-friendly interface and the Wi-Fi functionality. You can change the Preset within about a minute, should you f.e. want more Colors (what I did)
