Wider beam bulbs (60° or so) are known as flood or wash lights.  Many times you will not be able to adjust the distance between your fixture and subject so you'll have to calculate which beam angle is the best fit. If you have the flexibility to vary the distance you may have the option of choosing between two beam angles.

Electromagnetic radiation is divided into regions, shown are infrared radiation, visible light and ultraviolet radiation. The wavelength boundaries demonstrated in this image are from 1400 nanometers to 180 nanometers. The wavelength range for infrared is 1400 nanometers to 700 nanometers. The wavelength range for visible light is from 700 nanometers to 400 nanometers. The wavelength range for ultraviolet radiation is 400 nanometers to 180 nanometers. Visible light is the only electromagnetic radiation that can be detected by the human eye and is seen as a variety of colours.
