SWaP+C optimized design saves space, weight, and power, resulting in operational and cost benefits and the ability to integrate into smaller spaces.

Teledyne FLIR Neutrino IS series is simply the best technical solution available. With nearly off-the-shelf delivery, industry-leading two-year warranty, real price competitiveness and well-known product support and product reliability, it offers the lowest risk solution. The Neutrino IS is an OEM camera module that is intended to be integrated into a higher level system.

The back room sold surplus scientific gadgets and parts, as well as military surplus (some WW2)… none of the back room stuff was in the catalog, so it was extra special to visit their store. You never knew what you’d find, like a WW2-era military oscilloscope for sale. Or surplus giant glass lenses to try to make your own telescope. Or black lights. Or gas masks, giant capacitors, random IC chips or transistors, unknown electronic devices in random boxes or wooden shelves that looked like your dad built them for the garage. The front room was enormous and displayed everything in the catalog and possibly more. Everything could be touched and manipulated. Expensive items were in glass cases but clerks were happy to let you check them out.The retail store is gone even though the successor company occupies the same building last I checked.Any science-minded kid who grew up in South Jersey in the 60s, 70s, or 80s laments their closure, I guarantee that.

There are two major considerations in determining the best lens and resolution options for a given application.  First, the field of view (FOV) is the approximate angle of the extent of the image provided.  This may be given as the horizontal FOV (i.e. from left-most to right-most edges) or vertical, or sometimes diagonal FOV (from one corner to that diagonally opposite).

Designed from the ground up for optimum performance and reliability minimize cost of ownership and maximize operational uptime

MWIR systems provide higher resolution and sensitivity compared to long wave infrared (LWIR) systems due to shorter waveband and cooled detector architecture. Constraints associated with cooled architecture historically limited MWIR technology to military systems or high-end commercial applications.

Recent advancements in high operating temperature (HOT) MWIR sensor technology improves size, weight, power consumption, and Cost (SWaP+C), increasing demand of MWIR camera systems for industrial, commercial, and defense applications. This growth is translating to increased demand for custom and production optical systems.

Teledyne FLIR has experienced a significant increase in demand for HOT MWIR products, specifically, the MWIR Neutrino® LC and Neutrino SX8 camera modules, particularly with integrated continuous zoom (CZ) optics. In response, Teledyne FLIR launched multiple models of the Neutrino IS series of SWaP+C MWIR camera modules with factory-integrated CZ optics in 2021. These integrated systems shown, leverage the design-for-manufacturing (DFM) process developed and followed within the Optical Systems Group.

We are using an optics for Neutrino LC. However this optics flips the image upside down. Currently, for our prototype we are flipping the image on our software. We know that Neutrino LC has revert and invert functions. However, by looking at the datasheet we know that this setting should be done prior to setting the NUC tables. So when we apply these functions the bad pixel replacement does not appear to work.

I would occasionally schlepp to an electronics surplus store in the San Fernando Valley to look around. Even when I didn't have a project in mind I would usually come up with something based on what I saw that day and would leave with the needed stuff. I checked their website just now and saw that they had closed permanently a few weeks ago after 50+ years.

Neutrino IS series combines Teledyne FLIR’s world-class mid-wavelength infrared (MWIR) OEM camera modules and continuous zoom (CZ) lenses to offer high–performance imaging solutions with various FPA resolutions and CZ zoom/FOV ranges. Neutrino IS lowers development and manufacturing risk and improves time-to-market. Cutting-edge HOT FPAs, long life and low vibration linear coolers, common camera interfaces, and fully athermalized lenses make for the best-in-class solution. Each camera module and lens are designed for each other, providing optimal performance not achievable when buying and integrating cameras and lenses from multiple sources.

Is there a way to fix this issue? Maybe there is a NUC table in the camera already set for reverted and inverted images. If not can you please send the next shipments accordingly so when we invert and revert the images without any noise.

The second factor is the angle that each pixel represents, known as the iFOV.  Knowing the angle of each pixel allows the number of pixels that would appear for various targets at various distances.  For temperature measurement an object should appear as at least a 10 by 10 pixel object.  A lens should be chosen so the FOV is wide enough to find what you are looking for, and so that the iFOV will allow enough “pixels on target” to provide the information you need for your application.
