A diffusing lens or diffuser is used to break up and distribute light evenly. Light rays incident in parallel are distributed in different directions and thus produce diffuse, glare-free light. Diffuse reflection and refraction of light are the optical effects used for this purpose. They are achieved by a rough surface and / or embedded colour pigments or diffuser particles. One classic area of application is the use of diffuser films in the backlight unit (BLU) of LCD displays. Newer fields of application are

Whether diffusers actually provide homogeneous illumination depends on the type of diffusing filter used, the light source used and the distance between the diffuser and the light source. We will be happy to send you various material samples for testing on your specific application and installation situation.

On the one hand, there are colorless diffusion films that break up the incident light in different directions by means of a rough, structured surface, thus leading to a diffusion and better distribution of the light. On the other hand, we offer diffusion filters, which are milky opaque in color and at the same time contain diffuser particles in the material, through which the light is diffusely distributed over the surface. A combination of both variants is also possible, i.e. an opal diffuser with a structured surface.

We have suitable films and sheetss for light diffusion for direct, vertical light as well as for lateral edge lighting. Please contact us!

We offer light diffusers and filters cut and machined according to customer specifications. For thicknesses up to 2.0 mm, the maximum size is approx. 500 x 400 mm for opaque and approx. 800 x 800 mm for colorless, matte materials. For thicknesses greater than 2.0 mm, formats larger than 1000 x 1000 mm are also possible in individual cases.

TTV mainly offers diffusing screens and light diffusers made of cast acrylic (PMMA) in different thicknesses and varying levels of transmittance but we also offer other substrates such as POLYCARBONATE.Since there is no one suitable material for any given application, we always sample several materials from which the customer can choose the best one ensuring that most of your application requirements can be met.

Light transmission depends on the filter used. In the case of colorless diffusion films, the theoretical transmission is approx. 92%; in the case of the milky opal panes, transmission can be graded down to approx. 30%. We usually sample different materials on request, which our customers can then test.
