Lithium fluoride crystal transmissibility scope from ultraviolet 105nm to infrared 6.0μm. Therefore LiF are commonly used to produce UV - visible - IR field optical window, lenses, prisms and refraction components. LiF and temperature: Compared to the other single crystals available, LiF has a relatively low melting point: 855°C.  LiF softens at 600°C and becomes slightly plastic. It is therefore recommended to keep substrate temperature under 600C. LiF also sensitive to thermal shock and can be attacked by atmospheric moisture above 400°C. Under vacuum (e.g. before thin film deposition this should not be an issue however is worth noting in case of any other annealing processes that may be performed. Lastly, LiF suffers from thermal shock therefore LiF should not be exposed to sudden changes in temperature on heating/cooling (before/after deposition). Substrates returned within 14 days of their original shipment date in same as new / unopened condition in the same packaging will be eligible for a full refund or store credit.
