I researched the Abbé orthoscopic design and thought an eyepiece of 18mm fl would be a good choice for my SCT f/10. A televue x2 would double the mag up to a reasonable point.I tried it out on Jupiter and Saturn at low altitude and atmospheric colour dispersion and seeing were well defined as well as good planetary detail. I have no experience of much more expensive eyepieces and have always considered them for fast optics and not worth the weight or expense. I look forward to using this optic in the future as the altitude of these objects increases.
