When you power up your system, you may notice a slight glow to the LEDs. For 850nm LED models, you will see a slight red glow. The 940nm models do not have any glow that is visible to the human eye.
Once assembled, the power to the circuit is needed. We have set up this unit to run on 12v DC at about 160mA (0.160A). To operate at other voltages, you must select the correct value of a dropping resistor (of which there are eight).
Aspheric lenses can also improve your peripheral vision. The lens is thinner and lighter, so it can fit better in your glasses frame.Â
The last step is for the installation of the eight current limiting resistors which go at positions R1 to R8. The resistors will stand on their ends for this project. Unlike the LEDs, the resistors are not polarity sensitive to install any way you want.

Once you have all the parts, the first step is to become familiar with the PCB. It is set up with 24 LEDs in total, 18 around the outside, and another 8 on the inside (the LEDs are labeled D1 to D24). Resistors go on the board at positions R1 to R8, which are between the inner and outer rows of LEDs. Finally, apply power to the board just below D24, where you will see the Positive and Negative solder pads. In the very center of the PCB is a single hole. The hole can be enlarged for mounting or even further to fit around a camera lens.

The cornea and lens bend (i.e., refract) light as it enters your eye and focuses it on your retina. The cornea is fixed, but the lens changes shape as you focus on something close or far away. Your eyes will look magnified and create whatâs sometimes called goggle eyes or the soda bottle look. Refractive errors can cause nearsightedness where you see well up close but have trouble seeing farther away. They also cause farsightedness, where you can see distant objects well but not close ones. You can correct these problems with glasses. The purpose is to put a lens in front of your eye that helps focus light directly on your retina. The result is clearer and more comfortable vision.
Itâs called a high-index lens because it has a high refractive index, which means light travels quickly through the material. The material bends light more efficiently, making it better at correcting high refractive errors.Â

Most vision problems occur because of the way light is focused using your retina. The retina is the innermost part of your eye that senses light and helps turn it into three-dimensional images. It works with the cornea, which is the outermost layer of your eye, and the lens, which is an inner part of your eye.Â
Most lenses have a consistent curve that helps bring light to a focus. A concave lens curves inward and helps with nearsightedness, while a convex lens curves outward and helps with farsightedness.Â

You might want to choose aspheric lenses when you have a strong prescription or you experience dramatic refractive errors. Dramatic refractive errors mean you have significant problems with the way light focuses on your retina, which means youâll need stronger corrective measures.Â
