Tra di essi spicca quello in Ingegneria del veicolo, primo del suo genere in Italia, che vede la collaborazione di prestigiose industrie del settore automobilistico e del Politecnico di Milano.

We have achieved great progress in the development of our new Gangway Landing Assistant, and it will soon be ready for launch.

Marine resources can be harvested sustainably through the introduction of new technologies and a change in attitudes. We aim to take part in this development by providing vision & control technology for marine research and commercial fisheries.

Deep Vision has built up extensive experience with hardware and software design of subsea vision systems, and our team has proven its ability to deliver advanced vision technology for harsh subsea environments. Deep Vision shares offices with Scantrol.

Bringing modern vision and machine learning technology onboard vessels operating on the seven oceans is a challenging task that has been on Scantrol’s agenda for several years. Technology of this type is definitely required, but it needs to be developed and implemented with care to achieve the safety and reliability necessary for marine operations

Girona Vision Research has a high level of expertise in subsea image processing and machine learning, and is located at the University of Girona Technology Park.

We have set ourselves the goal of becoming an important player in this market, and a significant part of our R&D activities are directed towards this goal.

To address the issue of CO2 emissions, the maritime industry needs to increase the use of robotics and autonomous vessels.

We mount a camera at the end of the gangway and a recognizable target on the landing platform. The vision system locates the target and assists the operator in positioning the gangway above the landing platform. Once the gangway is correctly positioned above the landing point, the vision system will monitor the gangway movement relative to the landing point and signal the operator when it is safe to land.

The system will have an auto landing option. In auto landing mode, the motion is continuously monitored and compared to the characteristics of the gangway to determine the correct moment for landing safely.

Numerose sono le possibilità per gli studenti del Dipartimento di Ingegneria dell’Università degli Studi di Modena e Reggio Emilia con sede a Modena di effettuare periodi di studio presso atenei esteri. Il programma Vulcanus in Japan, ad esempio, prevede la possibilità di seguire un articolato percorso formativo in Giappone. Esso si articola in una settimana di seminario, un corso di lingua intensivo ed un tirocinio formativo della durata di otto mesi presso importanti realtà aziendali.

Scantrol's sister companies Deep Vision and Girona Vision Research are key partners in our vision & control strategy. The two companies are experts in vision technology and machine learning and work together to develop a subsea vision system that allows commercial fishermen to catch only legal fish while preventing the catch of illegal or undersized fish. The system is already in use within marine research, and commercial fishermen will soon be able to use the system.

Il Dipartimento di Ingegneria dell’Università degli Studi di Modena e Reggio Emilia con sede a Modena è intitolato alla memoria di Enzo Ferrari, come la preesistente facoltà, che ha sostituito in seguito all’entrata in vigore della Legge 240/2010. La sua offerta formativa si articola in quattro corsi di laurea triennale e sette di tipo magistrale attraverso i quali si fornisce agli studenti una formazione completa ed esaustiva in vista dell’ingresso nel mercato del lavoro. Ciò è possibile anche grazie al supporto di strutture didattiche di ottimo livello quali gli undici laboratori e la Biblioteca “Enzo Ferrari”, dotata di 180 postazioni di studio.

Scantrol is engaged in delivering control systems for unmanned surface vessels, and we have noticed a growing demand for more intelligent monitoring and control for this type of vessel.
