LEDdiffusion distance

The downsides are that, obviously, you CAN’T zoom in if you want to, you need to carry multiple lenses in most cases, and you risk losing a shot while switching lenses.

This is a lightweight 2mil neoprene fabric. It's smooth and stretchy, almost like a really thick spandex. This fabric is a mid-priced option at around $11/yard. It's wonderful to work with and stands up to a lot of stretching. It's also really warm. I think it diffuses the lights really well also.

This is a textured cotton fabric, often used for sleeve cuffs or other stretchy bits on clothing. It has thicker ribs and valleys that run along the weft of the fabric.  I found it for around $5/yard at a local fabric store.

This is a white lining fabric I found at my local fabric store for around $2/yard. It's really lightweight and very inexpensive. With a little bit of distance it does a great job of diffusing the lights, at a very nice price.

I took out time to go through the beginner photography course and I’ve learnt a lot from it. Thank you for letting all these information for free.

The benefits of Prime Lenses include generally higher quality images compared to zoom-capable lenses, lighter weight, and great for low-light or night photos.

The downsides of a Zoom Lens are that they are usually heavier than Prime Lenses, not quite as sharp as proportionally priced Prime Lenses, and the aperture setting doesn’t usually go as low, meaning low-light shots aren’t as easy to get.

Lace comes in so many formats. You can find zillions of different patterns online. It comes in narrow trims and full fabric widths.

White mesh is really inexpensive and easy to find. Depending on the density of the weave, it may or may not diffuse your LEDs much. It gets a bit more interesting with some distance - the polyester fibers get a bit shiny and give a silvery look when it's a few inches away. Enough light sneaks through the holes in this fabric that the reflective properties carry through a bit to the viewer. Mesh is really inexpensive - you can find it for around $2-3/yard at just about any fabric store.

It is believed that when we look through the camera lens is when we truly appreciate what is in front of us. Thank you team, for helping me understand the role of lens in the life of a camera and the photographer. It is not just vital in capturing the moment but also with clarity and focus. Every word explained on different lens is stupendous.

Lens distortion refers to the warping or bending of images caused by imperfections in the lens, resulting in straight lines appearing curved or stretched in photos.

This is a fairly heavyweight velvet fabric. Actually, it's my wedding dress - see, I knew I'd use it again one day! The heavy velvet blocks a fair amount of light, but with a little bit of distance it does make for some nice diffusion.

On the opposite side, you have the Telephoto Lens. You probably know these as the lenses that cameramen use on the sports field to get those super close-up shots of the action. Not all Telephoto Lenses have to be that big though. You can get a decent Telephoto Lens that you can take on your nature hike to get those up-close shots of wildlife.

They are lightweight like Prime Lenses and capture a clear image of most of the field of view, but aren’t useful for close-ups, portraits, or when you want that blurred background (known as bokeh).

Most lace is pretty transparent, so doesn't do a super great job of diffusing the LEDs, but it sure does make a pretty effect anyway.

Hi, I am in a dilemma here?. Your input might help!! I am upgrading myself from a Canon Powershot to a mirrorless this month.I am particularly interested in Portrait photography , Candid Photography and Product Photography. There are two choices I have – ? canon-eos-r50 RF-S18-45mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM ? canon-eos-r50 RF-S18-45mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM RF50mm f/1.8 STM

Wide Angle Lenses are a compromise between Fisheye and Prime Lenses. They do, as their name implies, capture wide fields of view. Most commonly used in landscape photos or night photography, they do require a certain amount of post-processing (photo editing with software) to avoid some of the distortion inherent in the lens.

Finally, you have the Macro Lens. You can use a macro lens for that extreme close-up! When you see a bee on a flower or a snowflake before it melts, you’re seeing a Macro shot. These lenses can give you the best detail for your money, but that can be a lot of money for a good lens.

I appreciate the way you address complex issues in a way that’s easy to understand. You have a real talent for simplifying things.

Both an unwanted artifact and a creative technique, lens flare occurs when light enters the lens, reflects, and scatters. The resulting bright spots or streaks may distract from the main subject. However, photographers often embrace lens flare as a creative element.

With so many options, choosing the ideal camera lens for your style and type of photography may leave you feeling overwhelmed. How do you find the right one?

This is a piece of medium-weight polyester fabric with iridescent sequins on the front. It diffuses the lights fairly well but the sequins and shininess really get lost. I had pretty high hopes for this one but ended up a little disappointed.

Night photography can seem like a very difficult skill for amateur photographers to master. But with the help of the right lenses, learning the art

Shiny things are shiny because they are reflecting light back at the viewer. In order to see the shine and sparkle, the light needs to be bouncing off the front of the sparkly thing, which means it needs to be coming from behind you. Using something like this for diffusion means the light is coming from behind the fabric instead, eliminating all the sparkle.

They are also great for capturing images with a great deal of bokeh (the blurry background). Imagine those shots of animals in the wild with everything blurry in the background. The downside of Telephoto is they are generally heavier, need a tripod to get the shot stable, and are expensive.

Zoom Lenses can come in different focal lengths. Generally, you might find a Zoom Lens that goes from 50mm to 200mm. That means you can get a nice family photo at the end of your hike (50mm) or you can get a close-up shot of that deer you saw along the way (200mm)!

How to diffuse LEDstrip

When you get outside of Prime and Zoom Lenses, you start to get into specialty lenses. You would use a specialty lens depending on the situation you are in. There are typically 4 specialty lenses: Fisheye, Wide Angle, Macro, and Telephoto.

This is a long pile white polyester fun fur. This is probably my favorite of all the diffusion materials. It looks and feels fabulous and diffuses any kind of LED strip beautifully. A little distance gives a gorgeous psychedelic matrix type effect. Fun fur FTW. Usually around $20-$30/yard depending on your source and how nice it is.

White felt is another great option. You can find it in varying thicknesses at any craft or fabric store and it does a nice job of diffusing the pixels with a bit of a fuzzy texture.

Fosshape is a nifty heat-reactive material that's basically a thermoplastic felt. When you heat it, it shrinks a bit an hardens to retain its shape. It's a really cool material choice for hats or other "stiff" costume pieces.

The Fisheye Lens is commonly used for situations when you want to see a lot of scenery in one shot. Real estate is one of the most common uses, as Fisheye Lenses allow for a single photo to show an entire room (such as the bathroom). But Fisheyes can be used for landscape photos, abstract art shots, cityscapes, and more. Because of the nature of Fisheye Lenses (major distortions), they aren’t useful in most common situations, such as portrait or wedding photos.

Landscape photography is one of the more popular photography genres, but like anything else, getting those beautiful landscape photos depends, at least in part, on

The Standard Prime Lens (or just Prime Lens) provides a fixed focal length. If you have a 35mm Prime Lens, you will only shoot in 35mm. The Prime Lens is most commonly used in situations when the subject is mostly stationary and you, the photographer, can move around. These include Portrait, Wedding, Landscape, and Streetscape.

This is a lightweight white satin fabric. It is shiny and diffus-ey and absolutely fabulous. Satin comes in a lot of different weights, from super thin satiny lining fabric which is almost translucent, and $2-3/yard, to heavyweight bridal satin, which is much more expensive and heavy and opaque and won't pass much light through at all. Test your strips before you make your choice, but you'll probably be really happy with satin as a diffuser. The shininess of the fabric picks up the lights and gives a lovely soft look.

This is a lightweight white faux sheepskin fabric. It's nice and soft, but it's a little to heavyweight to pass much light through. Even at a couple inches away the light starts to get blocked by the fur. It does look pretty good when it's touching the strips directly, but .. not my favorite.

Again, they are specialized, so you wouldn’t use them in everyday photography or even in portrait/wedding shots (except for the posed shots like of the rings). Because they need to be focused so well, focusing times typically take longer than a typical Prime or Zoom Lens.
