AOS Afocal Beam Expanders are built on a rigid aluminum breadboard to the dimensions requested by the customer. Optical designs are generally of a Dall-Kirkham or Gregorian configuration consisting of two reflective optical elements with independent alignment actuators. Breadboards come with standard three point leveling feet. Systems are available with and without enclosures. On axis designs are available in Cassegrain or Ritchey Cretien configurations.

AOS is able to make Commercial and Laboratory Grade high performance instruments using low expansion optical materials, or Aerospace Grade using advanced ceramics like Silicon Carbide for complete athermal rugged designs.

Build your beam expander from AOS standard mount products or ask us to produce a custom product to your requirements.  All beam expanders feature AOS world-class quality aspheric optics and precision alignment mechanics. Optical performance is optimized first with in-house design and also with system test metrology. High-resolution interferometry built into the manufacturing process ensures that our manufacturing team can obtain the highest possible performance out of as-built designs.

Options include vacuum compatible and motorized remote alignment. Reflective coatings can be specified as protected gold, silver, or dielectric for high laser damage resistance.

Beam expanders are delivered with a set of removable alignment mirrors or targets enabling alignment to an input beam. Magnification factors are available from 1.5x to 10x.
