But to take full advantage of the time savings and efficiency in cutting that a projector offers, it is best to focus on just using projector-specific files, at least when starting with this tool. Projector files are PDF files, but they have layout features that make it faster to cut with a projector. Most importantly they have all pieces aligned to have grain line in same direction, so that we don’t have to change orientation of the fabric for each pattern pieces.

Viewers can add comments in the spreadsheet to let Mary know of other companies to add, as new pattern designers around the world are joining the projector sewing movement all the time.

Did you have a belt to hand? Then put your hands on your hips and hold the tape measure as horizontally as possible. If you have a belt, you can slide your hand along it until you reach the measuring tape and hold it at the intersection with the belt.

Their pattern development approach, honed over the last three decades, is based on a system of multiple body forms in many sizes, allowing them to spend more time analysing and fixing fit issues in their studio during their pattern testing phase.

The nesting of sizes on Jalie patterns is done with the goal of making it easy to mix and match sizes of various widths and heights, so that patterns can be adjusted directly when cutting, without needing extensive alterations before cutting. The lower measuring point is located at the upper edge of the hip bone: if you put your hands on your hips, you can already feel the upper edges on the sides - the second measuring point is at this height.

You can use the load control straps to shift the weight between your hips and shoulders. If you want to place it on your hips, loosen the shoulder straps and tighten the load control straps. To "shoulder" the load, simply do it the other way around.

To find the upper measuring point, let your head hang forward. This causes the seventh vertebra to arch outwards on its own.

Finally, make sure that the closed chest strap runs directly and straight across the chest, i.e. approximately at heart level.
