Typology ring lights are stunning, seemingly levitating light fixtures with illumination reminiscent of the sun's corona during an eclipse. Soft white light bulbs register between 2,700 and 3,000 Kelvin. They emit a soft yellow glow which is ideal for illuminating a room without being too harsh. Soft white is great for ambient lighting in bedrooms, living rooms, and other areas around your home where you want to get cozy and relax.

Breaking away from traditional lighting vernacular was a central topic of discussion when Landscape Forms designers and engineers began working with their counterparts at Designworks, a BMW Group company, to create the Typology Collection.

Soft white lighting is best for bedrooms because it’s warm and cozy. If you like to read before bed, a soft white bulb in a bedside lamp is a good choice as it doesn’t emit the harsher blue tones of bright white lights.

When the facilities and maintenance team planned a 2022 update to the entrance of the Gerald R. Ford International Airport in Grand Rapids, MI, a wow factor was one of its goals.

If you use incandescent bulbs for lamps and fixtures at home, you may already be familiar with soft and warm white lighting. Although they're close together on the Kelvin scale and emit yellow-whitish tones, they are slightly different.

Soft white light offers a softer glow than warm. It's okay to mix these two lightbulbs around your home, however, for a more cohesive look, it's recommended to use the same type of bulb in the same room.

Depending on the type of mood and tone you want to set will depend on the intensity of lighting you choose. You will also want to understand a room's purpose before choosing the right lighting, for example, for work areas like the kitchen, office, or garage, you will want a stronger illumination so you can see better.

Daylight bulbs, which are 5000K – 6500K, provide the brightest white light. These bulbs will instantly brighten interior rooms, such as bathrooms that may not have a window or smaller windows that don't let in a lot of natural light.

All bulbs seem to be bright and hot, but cool or bright white light bulbs specifically refer to color temperatures between 4,000 and 5,000 Kelvin. Cool or bright white lights emit white and blue tones which are ideal for offices, garages, and other areas where you're working or completing tasks so you have a bright light to see clearly.

In between 5,000 and 6,500 on the Kelvin scale, daylight bulbs are even bluer in tone than bright or cool bulbs. Similar to natural daylight, which allows you to see everything clearly, daylight bulbs are best for seeing every detail. You'll find this type of light in hospitals, large offices, and classrooms.

Yes, soft white lighting looks yellow-white. Warm white is also semi-yellow but slightly distinguishable from soft white. Due to their similar properties, you can mix them throughout your home, but not in the same light fixture.

When shopping for a light bulb, it may be common to check for the wattage, shape, and size for compatibility with your light fixture. However, it's also important to take the color temperature into account whether you choose warm, soft, cool, or bright lightbulbs. The color temperature determines the intensity and the color of the light a bulb emits.

These bulbs are higher on the Kelvin scale, registering between 3,000 and 4,000 Kelvin. Warm white light bulbs emit a warm yellow-white glow, which is ideal for kitchens, bathrooms, hallways, and other high-traffic areas.

It's important to know that whatever type of bulb you screw into a fixture, dimmer switches can also help you regulate the intensity of that fixture, so you have more customization when it comes to setting the ambiance.
