Both Plexiglas® (most commonly spelt Plexiglass) and Perspex® are brand names of Acrylic sheet. Röhm GmbH, based in Germany, are the manufacturers of Plexiglas® whereas Perspex® is manufactured in the UK by Perspex International Limited. Both manufacturers supply a wide range of colours and thicknesses. Whilst the brand names Plexiglas® and Perspex® are different, ultimately the acrylic sheet that they manufacture is the same albeit each manufacturer might tweek the formulation to increase or enhance UV-resistance, light transmission or colour.

This solvent sticks all normal model making plastics, i.e. perspex, ABS, butyrate, styrene, acrylic etc. It has a long shelf life, is fast acting (grabs in seconds), and has a water-like consistency so it is best used by holding or clamping the surfaces together and running a loaded brush or applicator along the length of the joint (solvent will be drawn into the joint by capillary action).

At Simply Plastics our approach has always been to treat all orders equally, small or large. Without a light source the discs are opal (off-white) in colour with a slight gloss surface finish. The temperature of the light when lit is dependent on the light source.

Delivery prices are calculated based on the length of the longest side of the material ordered i.e. the delivery price of a panel measuring 1500mm x 1000mm would be based on the 1500mm dimension. Only one delivery charge is charged per order regardless of how many items are ordered.

When we cut an acrylic sheet to size, the saw blade/router toolbit produces a matte finish on the edges of the panel. We use a technique called diamond polishing to polish the edges to a bright, smooth and glossy finish.

These two terms are pronounced the same and spelt almost identically, however, Plexiglass is the genericized trademark or proprietary emponym that has become synonymous with acrylic sheeting in most of Europe and North America whereas Plexiglas® is the brand name for acrylic sheets manufactured by Röhm GmbH in Germany. Whilst Plexiglass has become the generic trademark for acrylic sheets in Europe and North America, the brand name Perspex® is synonymous with acrylic sheeting in the UK.

Perspex Opal 1TL1 and 1TL2 are part of the Perspex Spectrum range, using perspex cast acrylic sheet formulated specifically to optimize performance when used with LED lighting.

Both the weak carrier confinement in InGaN/GaN multiple quantum wells (MQWs) and the severe quantum-confined Stark effect in InGaN/AlGaN MQWs limit the improvement of quantum efficiency for near-ultraviolet (UV) light-emitting diodes (LEDs). In this regard, we have demonstrated high quantum efficiency LEDs grown on 4 inch Si substrates with well-designed InGaN/GaN/AlGaN/GaN MQWs. On the one hand, the proposed GaN interlayer barrier can increase the concentration and the spatial overlap of carriers in the MQWs for modulating the energy band and polarization theoretically. On the other hand, the GaN interlayer barrier grown by two-step temperature control can effectively improve the quality of the MQWs. The as-fabricated 395 nm near-UV LED chips with InGaN/GaN/AlGaN/GaN MQWs reveal an external quantum efficiency of 60% and a light output power of 659 mW at an injection current of 350 mA. This work provides a valuable solution to obtain high quantum efficiency and high power near-UV LEDs.
