Bill's purpose in licensing his patents is to allow anyone with related R&D to market their own innovative products (such as UV C flashlights), and to sell products that are like the products that Bill already markets. The benefit to a licensee is the licensee can share in Bill's existing patent protection, without having to spend many, many thousands of dollars to have a patent granted, nor waiting years to get the patent through the entire process. Only about 40% of patent applications make it through the patent process and are granted a patent. Of those only about 10% make it to market, so only about 4% of patent applications succeed to bring a product to the marketplace. Beginning in 2013, Bill proposed a cooperative venture by offering license agreements for the use of his patents to everyone in the fluorescent mineral hobby/business. A significant number of companies have since been licensed to use Bill's patents and are either still doing the R&D or already marketing their products (including filtered UV LED flashlights). In the license agreement Bill specifies a small royalty to compensate for the effort and huge expense of the R&D prior to applying for the patents, being granted patents, and later maintaining the patents.

Explanation: This experiment shows how sunscreens absorb and block ultraviolet (UV) light which is harmful to the skin. The effectiveness of sunscreen can be observed by comparing the degree of darkening or color changes in the sunscreen-coated areas of the UV-sensitive paper after UV exposure. Higher SPF sunscreens or those designed to block specific UV wavelengths will show greater UV protection, highlighting the role of light absorption in sun protection.

October 2018 - The Torcia 365 UV LED flashlight has been superseded by the Convoy S2+ 365nm UV flashlight. The new light has a more efficient design that offers approximately two times the amount of UV compared to the original Convoy S2+ UV flashlight. You've got to see it to believe it!
